Maybe next on the list will be updating the speaker system so you can hear things a little more clearly. Some games it's incredibly difficult to even know what is being said. Another random about time wasting: our idiot fans need to stop throwing bottles and stuff onto the field. When we're down a goal and they're clearly time wasting, it's completely moronic to throw bottles towards the keeper, which gives him a legitimate reason to now time waste.
This happened in the Philly game and the Philly keeper made Chapman come get the bottle out of his box and off the field which wasted even MORE time. Fans are stupid, can't even realize they're hurting their own team.
It's not just the size of the new screen. That resolution is just unreal (too bad nothing was really optimized to be displayed on it)
Yeah that's specifically what set me off on that. I'm on that side of the field so it was right there in front of me. Meanwhile the fans were trying to boo him for time wasting, which made me laugh. It's like booing a player for 'time wasting' when they actually took a rough challenge, it's immature. That too. I found myself looking behind me to the big screen whenever play was on the north end, because that screen just doesn't cut it anymore. I'm not a huge fan of having the permanent ads and whatnot taking up half the screen. I wish those were just here and there so the game could fully take up the screen more often.
They took a lesson from TV coverage this year with the Microsoft Windows 'frame' ads - and kicked it up another notch or two. They definitely could be more subtle with it...
If you're going to use the facilities to cheat, run some epilepsy inducing flashing add on the mega-screen just when Keane is about to shoot.
Seriously, I'd be over half the screen is occupied by ads. They could take a lesson in learning to color balance the ads with what's on the video most of the time (basically a shot of the field with some players most of the time). The BRIGHT green X96 ads and the bright blue America First ads really ******** with eyes next to the video. Overall it wasn't horrible, but I do kind of feel underwhelmed when they are attacking the south end and I'm looking at the video on the screen and it's barely bigger than the north end because of all the ads. I managed to catch myself on the north end board during half time, but couldn't turn around quick enough to see the south end. And I was mid-swig from my beer so it wasn't exactly a graceful acknowledgement on my part.
Good summary. Your point 13 basically sums up how I feel about the team right now -- a lot of aggressive ambivalence about a lot of the pieces. The suffix is "-esque," by the way.
I haven't liked Cassar since he started last year. As a tactician, I am still not sold. Mike Petke I think might still be out there.
elaborate Last year he used Kreis' tactics. This year, he was allowed to experiment with his own. it wasn't going to be an overnight fix. I like a lot of what he's proposed - especially the addition of width - but fear that he doesn't know what to do in the middle
And if we're going to aspire to someone, then someone who lucked into one of the best players on the planet for his success - not tactics - isn't who I would recommend.
@Duiz suggested Mike Petke as available. I never saw much tactical acumen there, just a guy riding Thierry Henry's greatness as far as it would take him. Which isn't a bad plan when you have such a world-class player, but if you aspire to have a tactically sound coach, don't pin your hopes on Petke.
Not to stir the pot, but you could say that about most of the major European teams currently found in the Champions League or UEFA Cup.
true to an extent but Champions League then separates the good from the not good. Mourinho is a tactician. He knows the game. Whereas [insert City manager] never seems to get it right, despite having all of that talent.
