27 Feb Sion - Luzern FCZ - YB 28 Feb Vaduz - GCZ Thun - Basel FCSG - Lugano If YB hopes to catch GCZ, they need to win at FCZ.
27 Feb Sion - Luzern 3-1 FCZ - YB 0-1 28 Feb Vaduz - GCZ 1-1 Thun - Basel 1-1 FCSG - Lugano 3-3 It what was the most unexpected result of the weekend, Thun manages a draw with Basel. FCSG was up 2-0 early, then fell behind 2-3 then equalized only to see Lugano get a PK, only to see them miss. YB closes to within 2 points of GCZ. Sion moves into 4th place. That will be the exciting race. Basel 53 GCZ 38 YB 36 Sion 28 FCSG 27 Thun 27 Luzern 26 Lugano 21 FCZ 21 Vaduz 20
5 March FCZ - Thun 0-0 6 March Lugano - Basel PPD Sion - Vaduz 2-0 YB - Luzern 5-2 7 March FCSG - GCZ YB gets the needed victory over a Luzern squad that is simply imploding. Too much talent on that team to play like they are. Sion with a big step towards Europe. With the unexpected loss mid week in the Swiss Cup, they will need to finish 4th to return to Europe. Basel 53* YB 39 GCZ 38* Sion 31* Thun 28 FCSG 27** Luzern 26 FCZ 22 Lugano 21* Vaduz 20
7 March FCSG - GCZ 2-0 YB given a great gift with FCSG defeating GCZ. Basel 53* YB 39 GCZ 38 Sion 31* FCSG 30* Thun 28 Luzern 26 FCZ 22 Lugano 21* Vaduz 20
12 March Vaduz - Thun Luzern - Lugano 13 March Basel - FCSG YB - Sion GCZ - FCZ Two intriguing matches this Sunday. If Sion would like to stay ahead in the race for the last Europa League spot, they need a good showing at YB. GCZ and YB look to go down to the wire for the 2nd CL spot.
I think Lugano are going to upset Luzern. Luzern are struggling right now and the fans have begun to turn on the players.
12 March Vaduz - Thun 0 - 0 Luzern - Lugano 2 - 1 Luzern finally wins! 13 March Basel - FCSG 4 - 2 YB - Sion 3 - 2 GCZ - FCZ 4 - 2 Basel 56 YB 42 GCZ 41 Sion 31 FCSG 30 Thun 29 Luzern 29 FCZ 22 Vaduz 21 Lugano 21 YB and GCZ keep pace for the 2nd spot.
Other than the Vaduz game, 20 goals were scored this week. The league is now averaging just a hair over 3 goals per match. Good times in the RSL!!
The collision in at 5:46. You can also see the dive that earned Sion a red card and changed the complexion of the match, that one is around 3:15.
The ASF has opened an inquest into the comments made by Christian Constantin after FC Sion lost to YB, a match with included a very controversial decision to award YB a pk and the Sion keeper a Red Card. Constantin has maintained that Sion was discriminated against by the referee team. Constantin put up a "highlight" video of the refereeing mistakes that lasts about 6 min on the club's homepage. It is still up as of Thursday morning.
19 March Thun - Luzern FCSG - YB 20 March Vaduz - FCZ GCZ - Lugano Sion - Basel Sion - Basel is the highlight of the weekend. Vaduz - FCZ is important at the bottom of the league.
After watching the video Constantin has a point! He isn't blowing hot air... a load of bad refereeing decisions in that game for sure!
19 March Thun - Luzern 1-1 FCSG - YB 2-3 20 March Vaduz - FCZ 0-3 GCZ - Lugano 0-1 Sion - Basel 0-1 More issues with Sion. After a goal was not given to Sion, and a PK soon after to Basel, the fans responded with 15 min of frustration Video here: http://www.fcb.ch/de-CH/News/2016/03/21/Im-Video-Die-Highlights-des-Spiels-FC-Sion-FCB Sion fans have always had a chip on their shoulder, this is not helping that. Oddest result was Lugano over GCZ? Basel 59 YB 45 GCZ 41 Sion 31 FCSG 30 Thun 30 Luzern 30 FCZ 25 Lugano 24 Vaduz 21
2 April Luzern - Vaduz FCZ - FCSG 3 April Lugano - Sion Thun - GCZ Basel - YB Lots of interesting matches this weekend. If Vaduz wants to move closer to safety, this is a must win. FCSG could move into the last Europa League spot with a win. There are 4 teams within 1 point of the 4th spot. GCZ can close the gap on YB with a win.
2 April Luzern - Vaduz 5-1 FCZ - FCSG 4-0 3 April Lugano - Sion 0-6 Thun - GCZ 2-1 Basel - YB 2-0 Lots of goals this weekend, 21 goals in 5 matches! GCZ and YB seem destined to draw out the 2nd CL spot competition. Sion moves ahead of Luzern and Thun.
9 April YB - Lugano GCZ - Luzern 10 April Basel - FCZ Sion - Thun Vaduz - FCSG I would anticipate that 4 of the home teams win this week with Vaduz doing the only one defeated. That would further distance Sion from the chasing pack.
While the form would seem that way, Vaduz hasn't lost to St. Gallen since coming back up to the Super League. It's actually a pretty big rivalry match, and both the players and supporters usually get up for it. If this turns into a loss, that could spell the end for Contini.
I knew they had always done well, and that it was a rivalry match, but not that they had done so well that they had not lost.
Congrats to YB on pounding Lugano 7-0... where is this effort when they play actual men like Basel.... YB still king of the underachievers! I guess its better than being a GCZ fan.... Just frustrated at Basel running away with it year after year.
An amazing win for Vaduz! They are currently in 9th place because of goal differential. FCSG is in shambles, scoring 4 and conceding 14 during their current 4 game losing streak. If Zinnbauer's seat wasn't hot before, it will be now. The players faced the supporters after the match and it was not a good scene with the players being ripped apart.
Wow, although as mentioned earlier, they had not lost to FCSG, I did not expect a 3-0 win by Vaduz. Yes Vaduz does have the goal differential advantage, but Lugano does have a match in hand. 9 April YB - Lugano 7-0 GCZ - Luzern 1-1 10 April Basel - FCZ 2-2 Basel scored 2 times while playing a man down. Both goals came after the 83' min. Sion - Thun 2-1 Sion now 3 points ahead of Luzern for the last EL spot. They scored in the 93' min for the win. Vaduz - FCSG 3-0 Basel 63* YB 48 GCZ 42 Sion 37* Luzern 34 Thun 33 FCSG 30* FCZ 29 Vaduz 24 Lugano 24* 19 goals in 5 matches, crazy. 13 April Lugano - Basel Sion - FCSG Here is Lugano and Sion's chances to take advantage of their game in hand. I can see Sion doing something, but not really Lugano.
