Originally I was going to say it's a ReAL pain, but I barely resisted. But seriously put one in the Ogden area so I have a local shop.
I think the better comparison would be the Red Zone for Utah apparel. Which would be a great idea if done right
It could be a soccer specific store, so sell RSL gear, MLS gear, USMNT & USWNT gear, etc. It could turn out really cool if done right.
Maybe I had a stroke but I seem to remember someone from RSL tweeting that they would bring back the yellow jerseys for a game this year and that they'd be on sale as well. Again, I do tend to have vivid hallucinations from time to time so I could be wrong.
Which was promptly shut down by the state because the owners of the Fanzz stores started complaining that the Red Zone stores had unfair tax advantages (aka Red Zone was taking too much business from Fanzz).
Shut down? The Red Zone stores are still running strong. Maybe they changed the tax requirements or something, but I haven't seen any of the shops close yet.

My cousin, who is a massive Timbers fan, is utterly convinced that Rimando will be a Timbers player next year. I have no idea what makes him think that. I told him there's a snowball's chance in hell.
I'd forgotten that RSL had traded Nicky to Noo Yawk and then two weeks later, asked for whichever goalkeeper they didn't want. Yet another "Beckerman-Ballouchy" style trade.
We were on both sides of that type of trade in that situation then, no? I mean we gave up Nicky for a 4th round pick to NY. And then Scott Garlick (where is a fruit basket when you need one!?) decides to sell houses in florida right before the burst of bubble... man - thats just luck
I knew about the 2 week deal, I just didn't realize we took whoever they didn't want. I just figured we essentially asked to reverse the trade.
Until 2008 most of the trades were like permanent int'l slots to Rapids and Chivas for stars like Adolpho Gregario or Jeff Stewart. Who you say? Exactly.
the irony of it is that the cRapids have never used that international slot to much success. While RSL has rode the dreads of KB to 2 MLS Cup appearances and a CCL Final And now I'm going to go cry again cuz I brought it up
Well, they did fall backwards into a cup win. But I don't really recognize that one in the record books.
Ha! To be fair they have won just as many major trophies in that time period as we have. I'd still choose RSL as my team to root for...just saying...
was it because of their internationals, though? And I don't think you can argue the current form of the cRapids is any better than it was before that trade. Maybe even the opposite is more true
Omar Cummings was an integral part of that squad, and he is an international. Kandji and Jamie Smith were as well (I hate myself for knowing this). According to Wikipedia, they had all 7 slots filled. However, one of those slots was Ceus, who is terrible, so I'm going to say that slot was the one we gave them. I don't think they are any better than before the trade, but we can't say they didn't get anything out of the trade.
I don't know. I just realized I counted wrong. They have 8 internationals listed, but I also don't know if any had green cards. @JasonMa might recall the roster status. Here's what is shown on Wikipedia.
