What's the situation these days? Will every game be shown on air, even if on delay? Or will some be streaming only?
In a nutshell: Early Saturday kickoff: NBC Sports Network 3pm/10am Sat kickoff: NBC Sports Network or NBC Live Extra streaming/OnDemand/DirecTV Noon kickoff: NBC/NBC Sports Network Sunday early kickoff: NBC Sports Network Sunday 11am kickoff: NBC Sports Network Monday: NBC Sports Network Midweek: NBC Sports Network or NBC Live Extra streaming/OnDemand/DirecTV Also, the best way to watch those non-broadcast TV matches is online or however your TV provider sets up the Live Extra package. For example, Comcast runs it through their OnDemand. You just go to OnDemand > Sports > Premier League and select the live match. It's a little overly complicated so I mostly watch matches like that online. NBC Sports does not broadcast many replies, they concentrate on highlights. But they archive all matches for a week on http://stream.nbcsports.com/liveextra/. So you can go back and watch online. Another note: for Verizon customers (I might be one soon), FIOS does not have a set up for Premier League Extra Time (those are the extra match channels on your TV). So it's online only for FIOS people. Or the local pub where they can tune in to a Premier League Extra Time channel on DirecTV.
So, all I have to do is get NBC Sports and that will automatically give me access to all QPR games? That sounds too good to be true.
Not quite that simple. You need access to NBC Sports Network (almost everyone with cable/sat does) and access to NBC Sports Live Extra. If you have Comcast or Verizon for TV, you'll need to verify that in the NBC site/app with your cable account user name and password. If you have Comcast, you can also watch through the OnDemand service on your TV. Bars with DirecTV have access to just about every match of the season. Once you get things set up it really is easy to watch every match. I'd recommend getting your access sorted well before the Hull match, since that's almost certain to be online/Extra Time only (I bet NBC Sports Network will choose Spurs/West Ham).
Here's our TV schedule through November: SAT 16 AUG Hull City 10:00 NBC Sports Network/Extra SUN 24 AUG Tottenham 8:30 CNBC SAT 30 AUG Sunderland 10:00 NBC Sports Network/Extra SUN 14 SEP Man Utd 11:00 NBC Sports Network SAT 20 SEP Stoke 7:45 NBC Sports Network SAT 27 SEP Southampton 10:00 NBC Sports Network/Extra SUN 5 OCT West Ham 11:15 NBC Sports Network SUN 19 OCT Liverpool 8:30 NBC Sports Network MON 27 OCT Aston Villa 3:00 NBC Sports Network SAT 1 NOV Chelsea 11:00 NBC Sports Network/Extra SAT 8 NOV Man City 12:30 NBC SAT 22 NOV Newcastle 10:00 NBC Sports Network/Extra SAT 29 NOV Leicester 10:00 NBC Sports Network/Extra
Six of those are on NBC Sports Network/Extra. Any idea if if that app is available though my Xbox? To date, that's the only thing I have set up to stream things to my TV. Naturally I'd rather watch on the big screen than on my laptop. I'll have to get that figured out. Also, I may need to figure out how to record the NBC Sports Network/Extra games, as I'm sure some will conflict with my son's soccer games.
Chromecast would be $35 well spent for this -- http://www.google.com/intl/en_US/chrome/devices/chromecast/learn.html. Or just a DVI or Thunderbolt to HDMI connector to sync your laptop and TV - I do that with my Mac. Replays are available online, usually about a day later, here: http://stream.nbcsports.com/liveextra/#replays NBC is definitely more online reliant now (which I don't mind, personally) - especially if you do not have DirecTV or Comcast. The only way you could record Extra games and watch as soon as you'd like would be on DirecTV. I wish FIOS would add the dedicated Premier League Extra channels.
Me too! I have FIOS. Yes, I was hoping to record those games and watch them when I get home, without knowing the score, rather than the next day. Thanks for the tips overall.
Here's a TV fixtures update. Leicester-Everton has been selected by NBCSN for the Saturday 3pm/10am kickoff. And Man City-Stoke for week 3. So that means our Hull and Sunderland fixtures will be on Extra (online or overflow channels depending on your TV/internet provider). NBC will always select a match with a top 7 club (City, Arse, Pool, Scum, ManUtd, Everton, Spurs) in that 10am slot when available. *More info on Extra coverage: http://www.livesoccertv.com/channels/premier-league-extra-time-usa/ Date -- Time (ET) -- vs -- Network SAT 16 AUG -- 10:00 -- Hull City -- Extra* SUN 24 AUG -- 8:30 -- Tottenham -- CNBC SAT 30 AUG -- 10:00 -- Sunderland -- Extra* SUN 14 SEP -- 11:00 -- Man Utd -- NBC Sports Network SAT 20 SEP -- 7:45 -- Stoke -- NBC Sports Network SAT 27 SEP -- 10:00 -- Southampton -- NBC Sports Network/Extra* SUN 5 OCT -- 11:15 -- West Ham -- NBC Sports Network SUN 19 OCT -- 8:30 -- Liverpool -- NBC Sports Network MON 27 OCT -- 3:00 -- Aston Villa -- NBC Sports Network SAT 1 NOV -- 11:00 -- Chelsea -- NBC Sports Network/Extra* SAT 8 NOV -- 12:30 -- Man City -- NBC SAT 22 NOV -- 10:00 -- Newcastle -- NBC Sports Network/Extra* SAT 29 NOV -- 10:00 -- Leicester -- NBC Sports Network/Extra*
I don't really understand how Live Extra works. The NBC Sports LiveExtra website says that it will be showing Man U v Swansea on 8/16 and there is no mention of the QPR game. Will Extra be streaming multiple games at the same time?
Yep - all matches are streamed, even the ones on TV. The Live Extra site has not been updated. Do you have Comcast?
Thanks for these updates. It will be great to have more access to QPR games. My kids look at me funny when I tell them the only soccer I could watch on TV while growing up was "Soccer made in Germany" on the PBS station once per week!
Actually, never mind your ISP, you'll need to log in to NBC Live Extra with your DISH account info. http://worldsoccertalk.com/2013/08/15/how-to-watch-premier-league-matches-via-nbc-sports-live-extra/
