As I've said on here a few times, this just isn't accurate. I'm an advocate for the youth, but I'm not asking us to line up as such: Kepa James Clark-Salter AC DaSilva Mount RLC Musonda Boga CHO Abraham But having Reece James, Mount, RLC, CHO and Abraham as part of our squad who actually play, isn't the wrong idea. Our issue isn't integrating youth, it's buying shitty players that we can' actually get rid of. That's blocking the way for more talented youth players that actually understand what it means to play for Chelsea.
I sometimes forget my age so let me lend some context to the quote. It’s 1995 and Alan Hansen was (is still?) a pundit on the main football analysis program in England, Match Of The Day. Man Utd under fergie just lost the season opener 3-1 to villa and Hansen made his now infamous comment. That team featured, at 21 or under, scholes, Neville, Neville, Giggs, Butt and Beckham. They went on to win the league and dominate English football for a long time.
I know who he is, had no idea on the context. Good info and yeah, very telling considering what that group represents and did. I stand by my point though, just don't mean it for you. I find the narrative by a host of people, mostly Chelsea fans, who are so damn naïve about the youth and just assume that when someone is advocating for youth I don't mean the lineup I referenced above. I just look at our current squad and realize that we really lack good quality depth and absolutely don't have any identity whatsoever. Integrating youth will bring that, and with our problems with the fans right, will hopefully mend some fences.
Ugh. That was a once in a generation thing. Look at the title winners in the Premier League era and it was won by big money stars with perhaps a sprinkle of younger players. The myth of the academy player rising through the ranks to propel their team to victory just doesn't hold up.
All the stars were young players once, and all came through the youth ranks at their respective clubs. Neither am I asking for half the team to be made up of young players. But they do deserve a better chance than what they have been given here in a struggling Chelsea team full of mediocre senior players.
Hey I am sure you can add the golden boy Pulisic to this line-up Necessity is an inventive and innovative mother right? Drinkwater is the new Bogarde.
True. Although Spurs have done well with the likes of Kane and the Dele Ali it is good for a club to bring in the yoof - for the fans. Christensen, RLC, CHO, etc should all be featuring more in games. Next season we will want Pulisic getting playing time as well.
But it also depends on the environment and coaches. Would Lampard have been a legend if he didn't move away from West Ham? Not sure, but unlikely. I do agree that mixing in some youth is a good thing because they're filled with piss and vinegar and are actually quite talented. But coaches don't trust them in high pressure situations because they're not experienced enough. In our case, when the vets suck ass, I don't see the harm in starting CHO more often than he has been. RLC is as good as or better than Bark or Kovacic.
FIFA have now fast-tracked our transfer ban appeal and will meet on April 11. https://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation...-as-chelsea-put-all-transfer-activity-on-hold
Very kind of FIFA to fast-track this one. The quotation from Christensen in it is very worrying-reads as if he's done and ready to move on. Congrats to Sarri and the board on ********ing that one up. I look forward to him partnering de Ligt for about a decade at Barcelona.
Andreas is right to be annoyed. Luiz should never have been given the reigns. Similar to CHO, I would want out as well.

So many old boys returning to roles at the club and here’s another one! Return of the Mak! https://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation...ung-player-technical-mentor-to-chelsea-report Technical mentor sounds extremely specific but can’t imagine a better fit than Claude.
Is that the reason? I read somewhere that Chelsea was the one who didn't want to pay inspite of the court ordering them to. So they took it to a higher court.
