Let's start a thread about all Romanian players outside the country. D'accordo? After Laurentiu Reghecampf (Alemannia Aachen), Vlad Munteanu and Sergiu Radu (both moved from Cottbus to Wolfsburg this summer), the Bundesliga welcomes another Romanian player: http://www.transfermarkt.de/de/news/16283/ddd/news/anzeigen.html http://www.transfermarkt.de/de/spieler/26028/burcaovidiu/aufeinenblick.html Herzlich willkommen, Ovidiu Burca! PS: Energie Cottbus signed him as a replacement for Kevin McKenna (who moved to Cologne).
I don't know what to say, Borussia! Sergiu Radu was an average player in Romania, Vlad Munteanu was wanted by Ajax, but many months he played in Division B for the satellite of Dinamo cos he was reveler, Reghecamf played at Steaua but he wasn't so bright and Burca .. LOL!
Don't expect Burca to achieve the same success as Radu.....but then again you never know. By the way Reghecampf made a horrible defensive error in his NT debut (WC qualifying versus Denmark back in 2003) and was never invited to the NT ever since.
I don't wonder since he's an offensive winger. Fact is that both were among the top BL players last season.
Cristian Chivu moves from AS Roma to Internazionale Milano. Ciprian Marica moves from Shakthar Donetsk to VfB Stuttgart.
I just found out there's a Romanian player in the Irish League. Andrei Georgescu - Bray Wanderers -> Sport365. Bray Wanderers squad -> link
Here an interesting Romanian/German player from the 2nd German league: http://www.transfermarkt.de/de/spieler/2345/nicumaximilian/aufeinenblick.html
Hey, I simply forgot that there's another BL player after Marica, Radu, Munteanu and Reghecampf: http://www.transfermarkt.de/de/spieler/7646/iuliansebastianfilipescu/profil.html Is there any chance to see him back in the national team at that age? Noapte buna.
There's also Tararache playing for Duisburg. Both have said the NT is no longer an objective for them.
Here are some Romanian performances around Europe last weekend Daniel Niculae scored the second goal in a 2-0 win by Auxerre over Nice. Adrian Mutu played 62 minutes for Fiorentina in 2-2 tie with Atalanta. Paul Codrea came in in the 88th minute for Siena in 1-1 tie with AC Milan. Lucian Sanmartean played full game and had an assist for Utrecht in a 2-0 win over Groningen. George Ogararu played first half for Ajax in 1-0 win over Heracles Almelo Razvan Rat came on in 80th minute for Shakhtar Donetsk in 2-1 win over Chernomorets. Marius Niculae played full game for Inverness in a 5-0 loss to Glasgow Rangers Ciprian Marica played 61 minutes for Stuttgart in 3-0 win over Energie Cottbus Vlad Munteanu entered in 82nd minute for Wolfsburg in a 2-1 loss with Karlsruhe Mihai Tararache played 90 minutes and Iulian Filipescu played 22 minutes for Duisburg in a 2-1 loss against Hertha Berlin. Florentin Petre played 60 minutes for CSKA Sofia in a 1-0 win over Pirin. Gabriel Tamas (Auxerre), Adrian Pit (Roma), Nicolae Mitea (Ajax), Tiberiu Ghioane (Dynamo Kyiv), Marius Mitu (Metalurg Donetsk), Alin Stoica (Gent), Ovidiu Burca (Energie Cottbus) and Sergiu Radu (Wolfsburg) did not play.
At least he's scoring goals there. Maybe he can work his way back to a decent team. Hope to see him back with the National Team, he was a pretty good scorer and he's only 26.
Not much to do with this thread ,B86,but I use to watch Boloni play with ASA Tg. Mures in the late 70's.He had that deadly , directional cannon shot of a kick that goalies used to be afraid of getting hit by, let alone defend! What a player... I remember specifically a Romania- Turkey friendly in the early 80's when he released one of those cannon shots from 1/3 of the field out; this turk defender was not paying attention and got hit in the head by it. It was lights out for him until later than afternoon in the hospital where he turned out to be OK. I think it taught him , like many others ,to keep his head on a swivel when a chap by the name of Ladislau was on the field.LOL
Another good week for Romanians abroad. Contra is getting healthy and is back with Getafe. Adrian Mutu scored in a Fiorentina win. Razvan Rat scored in a Shakhtar Donetsk win. Cristian Ianu scored for Aarau in Switzerland. Two goals for Daniel Niculae scored in Auxerre win over Champions League participant Marseille. George Ogararu also played in big win for Ajax away at Alkmaar. We will probably have many more Romanians abroad by the winter transfer because practically the entire Dinamo team has come out publicly stating that they want to leave the club.
Anyone following Zotinca, from Chivas USA? It seems like a pretty decent player, involved in an incident with Beckham, a few weeks ago... I think we need more romanian players in the USA. Why are they not attracted to play here? Aside from the fact that MLS is below the other european leagues, since I guess there are average Romanian players, too, that can fit in the MLS league.
Zotinca is a good player. He came to the US because he won an immigration lottery. He only started playing football after he already moved here as an immigrant. Truth is that nobody in MLS spends any time scouting Eastern European players. And that's a shame because there are some good bargains, and there are many Eastern European immigrants that would follow MLS more if they bought more players.
Chivu did not play this past weekend. Tararache played all 90 minutes for Duisburg. Claudiu Keseru scored for Nantes in French Cup.
Have you ever heard of Tomi Petrescu from Tampere United? http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/bundesliga/startseite/artikel/152533/ There are rumours that Nürnberg wants to sign him as replacement for Vittek...
Ajax is also interested in him. Tampere United is asking only $1 million for him. That's a resonably price even for a Romania top club. Unfortunately yes! he played for Finland's U17 and U21 teams.
