Never would have expected a start in addition to putting up MOTM stats considering how things have been going.

Was there an injury to his competition?

Striker, Marcus Antonsson picked up a knock. But honestly. I think Rosler just wanted to try to find some way to capitalize on Number 18's skillset and thought to put him at the least impactful position defensively on the field for his 4-4-2 which was striker. I watched all of the match and it looked more like Gall was playing more as a second striker than an actual 9. And it paid dividends.

    True. Basically 'opportunity' is life.

Rosenberg still playing? I remember he arrived at West Brom and couldn't score to save his life.

He's scored eight so far in the Allsvenskan, but that's because it's a weak league with dire defending.

Magnus Eriksson won the Allsvenskan Golden Boot in 2017 (and Golden Ball equivalent, too, I think?) and then was terrible in MLS last year and decidedly okay under Almeyda this year.

I know one player doesn't make a league comparison, and it was a down year for top goalscorers in Sweden that year ... but it's hard to see him putting in 14 goals anywhere.

I wouldn't make any judgements based on the performance of Quakes players last year. When a team is in a state like that, you just make player comparisons. Having said that, he will never be anything like a Golden Boot in a decent league. Allsvenskan isn't great. I vaguely remember that in the last world cup Sweden had not a single player from the Swedish league on their team. They _did_ have an MLS player.

I'm sure they had players who had started careers in the Swedish leagues.

Yes, and some AYSO players make USMNT eventually. To say that good players come from somewhere is not the same as saying playing in that league is hard.

    Assist! 7' and already 0-1.

35' and Malmö ahead in the global 4-0, so they're not even trying any more. Boring game.

Is MALMO that great of a team or is it's just the manager's tactics that keep Gall on the bench?
