That 74 team is one of the greatest teams of all time. Unlucky.

Heck of a cross by Gelson. Out on the right, he used the outside of his right foot to curl it toward the goal and right into Cristiano's path for a tap in.

Gelson Martins is such a great talent

Our reserve defense is crap, but thats to be expected.

    Danilo is a great destroyer.

Bernardo Silva is wasted with this setup of no forward, he should just be a playmaker behind the striker in our midfield trio against weaker teams. Then in his Monaco role against other top teams.

2-0 after a Sweden own goal. It was Gelson applying the pressure again with some help from Cristiano. Gelson ended up in the box, created some space and chipped a short cross toward a Bernardo Silva right in front of the goal, but a Swedish defender stuck his leg out (he had to or it'd have been a sitter for Portugal) and deflected it by the keeper.

...and Cancelo with a own goal in the last touch of the game.

    Portugal 2 Sweden 3

Would of been ok with a draw even being 2-0 up. Still only a friendly, where we made many changes with many players that are not that accustomed to playing with each other.

We didnt really show up in the second half.

Danilo and Gelson Martins were REALLY good.

Nelson Semedo was too easily beat on the last goal.

Waaaahhhh Sporting sucks so I have to bring up anything bad about Benfica whenever I get the chance waaaahhhhhh. It runs in your blood though. BdC and JJ were made for whiny bitchy Sporting and their fans. This was a National Team game, go cry in the corner. Don't worry only a few more days till your glorious Sporting returns

Why wasn't Anthony Lopes called up? Is he injured?

Marafona coughed one up on that corner. That one was awful.

During Euro 2004? Yes. That's about it.

At club level and virtually everything else it's no contest.

For me, it's reversed and i'm a Benfiquista. I watched Pauleta alot for PSG and he's just capable of way more as a striker.

Not going to lie, not being able to get the win in Madeira for Ronaldo is very demoralizing. This was more than just a friendly for Ronaldo.

Elsewhere, Croatia lost to Estonia 3-0. I'm just trying to use that to get past this.

Ironic considering all the bitching by all the Lampiao trash regarding the Selecao. Fix the league, and then complain about the league.

Put the bong down and back away slowly. That is by far the most laughable post i've ever read on here. You are rating Nuno Gomes (lol) above a man who is still regarded as PSG's greatest by plenty of Paris fans. Even over Zlatan. Pauleta did not have the supporting cast Zlatan did at PSG.

Take a brief moment to take this in, and think about what you just said.

I wasn't able to watch the game, but read about it and thats enough for me and I understand football on a higher level.

I want folks on here to recognize the following points as facts:

    1. Our Defensive depth at CB and to a lesser extent LB is the major worry atm. Santos really needs to give cap to Daniel Carrido, Luis Neto, and possibly Ruben Semedo.

    2. Joao Mario deserves much more credit, he is important to the team holding its tactical shape. Solid, steady, keeps the ball well, can cross and pass effectively - and tactically refined as he runs back and helps plug gaps etc. thats why he must continue to play. Honestly he should be the first midfielder Santos writes on the team sheet... he is tactically superior. Sanches is flashy and brilliant at times but he is chaos. Mario brings steadiness, intelligence, and tranquility and no-one gives him his due on here.

    3. the love affair with Eder must end. yes he scored the big goal and is a legend for that but he missed sitters again. Since that goal he's probably been using his fame to bang white women every other day instead of focus on football. Andre Silva has simply proven to be the top striker, but of course its a friendly and Santos needs to use other players.

    4. All the hype about Bernardo Silva but he cagous every single time. yet again, a young winger from Sporting asserts himself as a viable option. Gelson Martins. Seixal has to eat many gallons of Caldo Verde before they can be talked about in the same breath as Sporting Academy. Porto academy is also higher than Benfica's, just based on actually producing a legit striker for the national team.

Pauleta was good ...in a weak Ligue 1.
But he did not win the league title with PSG and to say he is any where near Zlatan's level is ridiculous.

Nuno Gomes was by far a better striker, especially for Portugal. The biggest shame was that Nuno didn't play in 2006 until a late sub for 3rd place and what did he do? Instantly score against Germany just to show what we could of had in the semi vs France. Speaking of France ...Euro 2000 what a tourney should have started in 2002....but nope your boy was there choking vs the Americans and South koreans.
