And bench the poster child of Mexican football?

    I doubt it, unfortunately.

    I agree.
Even though he doesnt get any sufficent time with Man Utd he's an automatic starter for the national side which i dont understand why. I've been hearing analyst say the only reason he starts is cause of the fanbase, that they wanna see him play, even though IMO he's out of form and should bench or not be called up

That play between chicharo and Peralta for the first goal was pretty nice. Good touch by both of them.

Oribe did a great job to make something out of a relatively average pass by Cheech honestly. I didn't think it was anything special, except for the touch and finish by Oribe.

So, a 1-0 victory by both Panama and Costa Rica will eliminate Mexico! Very interesting Tuesday! based on that, I don't get why the Mexican media (Univision in particular) are soooo sure about a Play-off meeting with New Zealand, or even with overtaking Honduras, when in reality, a victory of Panama over a less-than- full strength USA and a Costa Rica victory over a desperate Mexico, are much more possible!!

Yeah I still think Mexico gets through, but I think it's very possible they don't and I think it's WAY more possible that Mexico falls to 5th than Mexico rising to 3rd

USA, especially with fringe-but-still-very-good players trying to play their way onto the WC roster, is not going to roll over; I would not be surprised if the USA gets at least a point from this last game. No way Mexico overtakes Honduras, though; I don't expect Mexico to beat Costa Rica or Honduras to lost to Jamaica, much less and.
That said, I definitely would get a perverse enjoyment out of Mexico failing to qualify... Though I'm definitely planning on changing my "national team" from Spain to New Zealand soon.

And the finish is pretty much all that counts in this case. Come on now.

No I meant Chich's touch wasn't anything special, not the goal itself, which was great.

I don't even know what to say about the end of the match. Talk about a meltdown. Cruel ending but in the end it was justified. I am speechless right now. Congrats Nats.

Costa Rica beats Mexico 2-1 in San Jose. Mexico finishes in 4th and will play against New Zealand .

What a roller coaster ride for 90 minutes! Incredible. I feel gutted for Panama and their fans. Why did they keep attacking up 2-1? I guess we'd be criticizing them for laying back if they conceded a goal as well.

El Tri vs. the Kiwi's in the play-offs, and EL Tri owes the US a huge thank you.

I was surprised Panama didn't try to keep the play in the center of the pitch and jam things up there. Up 2-1 in extra time, you have to play up high and keep the ball out of your own 1/3. They didn't and got caught in not 1, but 2 counter attacks, something that the US has excelled at for years.

Panama gave it their all and I can only imagine how they must feel right now.

The key moment for me was when Tejada tries to dribble through three US defenders in the 91st min. I was thinking to myself why did he not pass it to two open guys on the wings...then we scored.

They drew 0 - 0 with both Trinidad & Tobago and Chivas USA this past few weeks.

    Judge for yourself:

    ------------------Galadriel
    Eomer--Celeborn---Treebeard----Faramir
    ------------------Elrond
    Legolas---------Gandalf----------Celeborn
    ------------------Aragorn
    -------------------Arwen

Outside of Gimli, Eomer is 6'6" and the rest are 7' or so-except for 25' tall Treebeard. Galadriel can keep Sauron out of Lothlorien, think she can keep Mexico out of goal?

As for experience, it helps having most of the players several thousand years old. They've seen it all. They're still peaking.

As for strikers, Arwen can bust a Nazgul defense; Mexico isn't quite as good. Aragon and Gandalf behind him are great distributers of the ball as well as stone cold scorers in their own right.

Does that mean Trinidad and Tobago isn't better than a PDL club?

Just a complete and total lack of experience being in that position.

The right team advanced. Mexico got 8 points in the hex, and 4 of them came off of Panama.
