I feel sorry for Coudet. His team absolutely sucks balls. Lol

The Colombians Quintero and Borre played amazingly, the defense was solid, Armani is a fvcking Wall. Palacios played great as well. Even Pratto’s lame ass got a goal!

On to the next scrub team from Avellaneda.

Agreed, but it’s also pretty stupid for Enzo to mouth off. The team is up 3-0, one just needs to point to the score to effectively talk trash.

Centurion threw a hissy fit and decided to remind everyone of his only triumph he’ll even have in his life, the 4-2 against River.

    Pobre cabron! Lol

In addition to the stupid red card, I don't like this version of Enzo Perez. I know he was playing as a #5 tonight in an emergency situation, but this is like the slow ponderous Enzo who played for the disastrous Argentina of the moron Sampalobby, not the Enzo who arrived from Valancia and was so decisive.

But lets not let the stupidity at the end overshadow what was an excellent performance.

I love Palacios. I love his style of player. His goal reminded me in a way of the one Carlitos Sanchez scored in the Recopa vs. San Lorenzo. It was pure instincts to anticipate to get into that position. Very, very few midfielders in the world have that kind of instincts to get into the box, and even fewer keep their heads to make a cool finish.

I also loved Borre tonight and was glad he got his goal at the end, it was deserved.

Very good much from Montiel. I may have preferred Moreira, but the kid did very well.

And Armani, what else can you say? His shot stopping is world class see his the ones from Bou and Centurion, but its the crosses, low and high, that even Barovero would struggle with, that make him IMO the best goalkeeper we've had in my lifetime.

Oh, and CENTURION BOSTERO MALEDUCADO LA CONCHA DE TU MADRE AGUANTE RIVER!!!!

VAMOSSSSSS AHORA POR EL ROJO, OTRO HIJO NUESTRO

Another draw in the Superliga. Just sad. I’ll be the first to say the Superliga is a Mickey Mouse competition, but it’s the only league we have and we need to play it and we need to win it, but we’ve been dreadful.

Again, Quintero was amazing, but Pratto went back to being Pratto. 8 goals in 28 games is not good enough. I was hoping his goal Wednesday would open the goal for him, but tonight he was poor. The club record signing should be scoring in matches like this.

I thought all three subs Enzo, Pity, and Mora were all terrible.

Part of me thinks there is a mental block or a lack of motivation to win matches in the local league, because we were so brilliant Wednesday night, and then tonight we were just awful, just like against Argentinos Juniors, Huracán, and Belgrano

I don’t want to be too negative because we are probably favorites to win the Libertadores and we were amazing during week, but it’s just frustrating how just prod along in the Superliga, it’s almost like we’re a different team.

Looks like Nacho Fernandez is beating Quintero for the starting spot tomorrow vs. Independiente. I would love to see Juanfer, but it makes sense since Gallardo tends to play a more tamed game in the away legs of the Copa (see Boca and Racing) and Nacho provides more balance.

Pratto and Borre up front.. the rest of the team will be the usual - Casco, Pinola, Maidana, Montiel, Ponzio, Palacios, Pity

    Should be a fun game

Off topic, but I missed the San Martin game over the weekend. How did Moreira do with a full 90 mins?

I would much prefer Quintero. I think you need to make room for a player like him. Look at his goal away to San Lorenzo. He can bring something out of nothing. I think in a cup match, you need your best players out there. I personally don't fear Independiente at all. I think Racing was the much sterner test.

I thought he was pretty good and personally I prefer him to Montiel who has been doing a good job, but isn't the kind of fightback I like, but then as you said loco, Gallardo likes a cautious approach.

I know its been a while, but I still can't forget Moreira's first few matches for us, especially the Recopa against Independiente Santa Fe... He looked like a combination of Dani Alves and Cafu... I don't expect him to play that well again, but I think he is explosive going forward

I hate all the talk about the "mistica" of Independiente in the Copa. This is a club that hasn't even been a candidate since 1984.

One of the things that I love about our football is how important our history is, but lets be honest, sometimes the idiots in the media have a story they want to impose on their consumers and they ignore the reality. River is the most successful club in the history of the competition, more points than Nacional and Peñarol despite having participated 11 fewer times. We have also scored the most goals of any club in the competition and have a +191 goal difference, far better than any club.

Sure, River may have not won the competition as much as Independiente, who won it various times by entering in the semifinals, but River is the one club that is always in the decisive stages of this tournament, while Independiente has barely been a factor historically.

Are both Quintero and Santos Borre going to start?

From what I have seen of Independiente...
    ....River should win this easily.

I don’t know about that. Quintero started against Racing and San Lorenzo... I think it’s more that in away games in copas Gallardo prioritizes work ethic and tracking back. He is a defensive coach despite what many people think or say when it comes to Away games

I’m glad Nacho got hurt. Quintero and Armani are the only two players on either team and probably in all of Argentine football that are legit cracks. In a match like this Quintero is much more likely to play a special pass, play a great set piece, or make a brilliant goal like against San Lorenzo than anyone else.

I agree that Independiente is nothing special. I think if we get an away goal say 1-1 we’ll easily beat them at home. I think river is good enough to beat them 2 or 3-0 but even with Quintero starting Gallardo will be too cautious and give his team defensive instructions to win by that much, but I hope I’m wrong and we wipe the floor with them.

    Vamos River carajooooooo

Shit game. But at least Armani is still a boss. Another game where Gigliotti eats shit against River. Lol

My boy Mora has been playing like almost his old self this week.

Armani is the best goalkeeper I have ever seen. Just a monster between the sticks.

The other thing I'd take from the game is that while I have faith in Gallardo that we will win this series in El Monumental just like we did against Racing with a two or three goal cushion, but it is curious how Gallardo is so impatient with Quintero. Sure, it wasn't his best game at all, but he was working hard, and if anything Independiente's best moments came when he came off.

The other case is Scocco. He arrived as the big signing and delivered from his first match in Paraguay, and has continued ever since yet for someone reason, he has lost his place.

Then on the other hand, he has an infinite amount of patience with Pratto who last night did absolutely nothing.

I felt the same way with Balanta/Funes Mori when there was no reason for Balanta to lose his spot, but for some reason Muñeco preferred FUnes Mori and it killed Balanta's confidence. Obviously it worked out in a way because FUnes Mori became an idol and scored in the Libertadores Final and Balanta was horrible his last season, but at the time Balanta was clearly a better player and Funes Mori did single handedly cost River the league title with his bloopers against Racing and Olimpo. Thats how I feel about the Scocco/Pratto debate. Just why?

Well Scocco’s form has dipped, but I’d still take him over Borre without a doubt. The Colombian does a lot of dirty work though, so maybe that’s why he got the start

The Quintero situation was him basically saying “let’s not take risks and close off the 0-0 at this point”

I didn't want to admit it but I have to agree he has improved in the past couple of weeks. But that's good as it benefits the team and hopefully him and the rest of the team can continue with their form against Independiente in 9 days

As much as I enjoyed destroying the Bosteros on their home ground yet again, its makes me frustrated to think back to the scoreless draws in El Monumental against Argentinos Juniors and Belgrano.

Anyway, now we have enjoyed this, but we need to be focused for Sunday we play at Lanus in the late fixture in what is never an easy place to go and we've had some poor results their in recent times. Lets turn it around and overrun them.

Oh, and Scocco > Pratto... Maybe Scocco is a specialist off the bench, second straight clasico scoring against them, but man I'd love to see Nacho back in the starting line up more regularly
