Two ways to look at this.

1 The REVs are after someone they think will be coming back from Europe

    and more likely

2 SJ needed some TAM and GAM and found someone willing to deal. REVs were a good partner because they had no plans to use the TAM or GAM. The REVs do get the second spot and they get all of the TAM and GAM back next year plus $75,000 TAM extra

As I read that we are sending 275K to San Jose and will get 175K back in January. So we are losing 100K net. At least that is how I read it. The allocation order also resets at the end of the year so this is use it or lose it

BTW, why aren't we using the $275K now? It isn't like we don't have roster slots

Looks like it has been updated.

So the net loss is now $0, just swapping GAM (now) for TAM (later).

So....am I reading this right in thinking that the Revs are thinking they don't need money now to sign someone? At least not someone who they need GAM for? So much for a big signing in the summer then I guess.

OR...on the optimistic side they hope to use the allocation slot sooner rather than later.

Y'see, they are gonna sign some big-time player coming back from Europe. Those guys don't come cheap, so we'll need to use some TAM/GAM/HAM/SPAM money to pay down his salary.... um, wait a sec...

    Revs in 2010 repped this.

Just find someone on this list that Columbus doesn't want...

(Oh, and is willing to sign here.)

    On the allocation list:
Rosell, Oriol - Sporting Clube (POR)

Hey, don't the Revs have an affiliation with Sporting Clube?

Oh, right, that would take a real affiliation, not a fake one.

Well im amazed they did anything. Of course, we will have to wait and see who this turns into and if its another JJ deal. One where we sign somebody cause they have no other option but the Revs then refuse to resign that player when they want more money.

I would rather they just sign somebody straight out

If the Revs actually INTENDED on using it, it would have cost them a lot more than a 6 month loan of allocation money....
