Although i dont think wayne rooney is a bust, his athletecism was a huge component of his game and he doesnt have too much of it anymore based on his showing at everton. I dont think he will be nearly as impactful as zlatan, and for a guy with his recent history of knee injuries (missed 16 games with bum knee in last 3 seasons) i dont think playing on turf will treat him well

He's just a care-taker until the new stadium opens.

Seems like he's getting interest from a few euro teams now, likely pricing us out of the running. I'd imagine that an offer from MLS would have to be better than a European offer to get consideration.

We need at least one player pushed to the bench this window or it's a failure.

Anyone have the feeling that this statement is coming soon after the window closes "We made what we felt were solid offers to two international players and inquired about several others. Unfortunately we were not able to come to terms with any of them. We do feel that we have a strong core that can compete in MLS and look to make additions during the off season via the draft, free agents and elsewhere"

    https://www.revolutionsoccer.net/po...nsfer-targets-fairly-soon-summer-window-opens
Revolution head coach Brad Friedel and the rest of the club’s technical staff have been working diligently to procure key additions this window, with much of the groundwork laid eight months ago when Friedel and his staff first arrived in New England.
Some of the work that we did in November and December was for this window, and we’re already starting for the January window,” Friedel said. “It never, never stops.”
Hopefully Burns can hold up his end and sign the players to deals or all that work is for not

Brad would go up several notches if he would come out and say that

I think you're all overstating Burns' role in this. Friedel's been the one targeting players, he knows what assets they have and he knows how much he's willing to invest in the individual targets. IMO Burns is just relaying Friedel's offers to the teams/player's agents.

I think you’re understating Burns’ role here. It would be downright shocking if Friedel was involved in coming up with actual dollar figures for these offers. He may get to pick his targets, but he is not the guy dealing with payroll or transfer fees. Burns is - that’s his job. Even if Burns is “relaying” offers, they’re offers that he’s already bounded Friedel on by telling him what’s available and what the Revs are willing to do. Burns’ (and by extrapolation, the Krafts’) influence looms large, whatever Friedel might want. And he’s the one that agents have to deal with. However much players might like Friedel and his offer, if Burns is a pill (and at least some agents say he is), that’s a complicating factor.

That's evidence there's at least some longer range planning going on, which is positive. Whether it bears fruit is another thing of course.
