Behold. Revolution Stadium Groundbreaking "12-24 months" Part XIII. Over six thousand five hundred posts strong!
And they said Seinfeld was a show about nothing. Hopefully Kraft is acting against type and is pestering the ever-loving hell out of Walsh and the BRA in the wake of Boston 2024 closing up shop. The last thing he wants to happen is for the BRA to start planning around the Dot Ave. transformation that was the crown jewel in the Olympics proposal, bringing community stakeholders on board and getting heavy hitters in the development industry behind it. Kraft needs to make a case that north-of-Widett parcel becoming a SSS and he needs to make it quick. Call it an anchor project that can get the momentum headed in the right direction. Point out that there are public health reasons why you probably shouldn't build housing right up against I-93. Be the rebound guy and be shameless about it. Oh, and recognize Walsh sent the Olympics packing because he wouldn't expose the city to needless financial risks. If the city deeds over the land, then figure out how to build the stadium on your own dime.

Kenneth HessDo you think of ever having a MLS team out of CT? Grant it, I take my kids to the Revs games, but would love to see a professional team here in CT. 1 · Like · Reply · 11 hrs Don GarberThe Kraft family is working hard to get a stadium built in downtown Boston. I've just seen the newest renditions. We are VERY focused on seeing that project through. So there will not be any clubs in CT 5 · Like · 10 hrs https://www.facebook.com/MLS/posts/10153500737813887
No matter how many times Lucy pulls the football away, there is always someone out there who believes this time, they will kick it....
It gets better this morning- the #1 Boy City johnny come lately fan KNOWS TOO. Oh, and he also thinks Kraft should "shift focus" away from the NFL. Lord, we don't speak often, but please give me strength.
I think if Kraft were given the land by the state he would build something great with his own moneyPerhaps in southie. 30K all seater with roofed seats. Back about 15 years ago when they wanted to rip down Fenway I was all for it but thinking back I would never want that to happen. Not saying Gillette is the best place for the Revs... but honestly... I love the free parking, ease of getting to games, and shopping atmosphere. If they could find a way to make it more loud and rambuncious place to play I'd say stay there.
I think your opinion is a minority here, but it's a bigger minority than most on these boards realize. For every couple or three new "butts in seats" we'll probably lose one based on this logic. I'm also not sure that a SSS will be allowed/encouraged to be a loud and rambunctious place (good choice of words!) by the KSG.
I think most, if not everyone on this board only want a SSS and to get the heck out of Foxboro ASAP. I am not following your logic. Don't get me wrong.... I'd love for a place to call home for the Revs.... but.... not at the cost that comes along with it. Currently in Foxboro: Parking... Free Season Tickets.... $250 to $750 Each. (By far the cheapest in the league) Tailgating.... Priceless If we move to Boston: Parking... $25 to $50 a game Season Tickets.... $500 to $1500 Each (on the cheap end to be honest) Tailgating... Fat Chance.
If you don't want to drive and pay for parking, taking the train to the game is a great option. It's not currently an option in Foxboro.
It's not an option in Foxboro yet, but they are working on it. Just like they are working on an SSS, and signing a defender, and getting something out of their affiliation with Rochester, and getting something out of their affiliation with CP Sporting, and...
They try. They try 'really hard'. If you're a 20 year season ticket holder, you did get to go on the field recently and watch the opposing team warm up, so, you know, there's that.
Just as an uninvited outsider playing devil's advocate, I would note that DCU fans used that exact same analogy for years, and it certainly applied... right up until they finally did kick the football. And for Metro fans, the whole "we'll make a statement about a future statement in X to Y months" became a running joke... but then they built the stadium. Also, if you compare the Garber 2011 quote and the Garber 2015 quote, there is a real change in tone - from conditional statements and uncertainty to decisive statements and certainty. What's more, the 2011 quote contains a clear acknowledgment that the stadium is a long term project. The 2015 quote contains no "long term" language, and refers to specifics which are not mentioned in the previous quote. In other words, both quotes, taken at face value, make sense, and the 2011 quote in no way undermines the 2015 quote. This was always going to be a long slog, and it's not surprising that it's taken four years to get from Garber Quote 1 to Garber Quote 2.
I get what you are saying, but have you seen the title of this thread? That was said by Jonathan Kraft. In 2010. There is no tangible progress (let alone groundbreaking) since then, only rhetoric. I don't expect to see an "Open For Business" sign before I believe, but I need to seem some evidence that things are further along than they were five years ago. Change of tone isn't enough.
I know what you mean... I'm a long-time lurker at this forum who takes a strong interest in stadium news, so I've read almost every word in each of these threads. For a long time, I thought the whole project was some kind of a ruse to shut fans up, but in the last two years I've started to believe that the effort is real. I think the Olympics bid threw it into a long period of stasis and confusion, but clearly, that fog is now dissolving. I'm not buying into anything, of course, for the same reasons as you, but I'd be surprised if they hadn't broken ground by 2019, say.
I'd much rather pay more for a superior gameday atmosphere. Additionally, I'm fine with eating/drinking in a bar rather than a parking lot.
