Does anyone know the revenues of the Canadian MLS teams? http://www.stadiumzone.weebly.com has all sports clubs with a revenue above 20 million euros, but only a few MLS clubs are included. How about the revenue of Toronto FC, isn't it close to the 20 million euros line? The Whitecaps also have high attendances, and I think Montreal Impact also has the potential to make it to the list soon.
I would guess that TFC and VWFC would make the list but I think they like to keep that info to themselves. Montréal doesn't join the MLS until next year.
There is no real reason not to, and I can't speak for Vancouver, but for TFC, the parent company who owns them are, to put it bluntly, a bunch of weasels.
Most private firms or companies like to keep their financials and revenues secret. Its the exact same mentality as if someone were to ask you "how much money do you make a year and how much do you save". Now if the company is publically listed on a stock market, there is certain disclosures that have to be made as it is germaine to the investor.
It's still bullshit to not publish. Almost every club does. Can anyone give estimates of the MLS clubs revenues?
I claim no special knowledge but let's look at some rough numbers for TFC: average $35 per ticket x 20 000 fans x 17 home games = $11.9 million concession revenue $5 x 20 000 x 17 = $1.7 million shirt sponsor $4 million Throw in revenue from NCC and CCL matches and whatever else I may have overlooked and I'd estimate total revenue of around $20 million. That would be something like $14 or $15 million euros. Vancouver is probably similar.
TFC's parent company is being bought by a partnership made up of two publicly traded companies (BCE and Rogers). While we probably won't get a thorough financial report about TFC, there will probably be a way to make some inference based on their earnings reports. That is unless the portion of the earnings reports just includes numbers for MLSE as a whole and not broken down by MLSE's individual holdings. If it goes that way it will be impossible to know.
