This is a very interesting development. Looking back at the tweet - it was a total guess on that part of the person that this player was linked to the Revs. But if true that Revs were courting him, and the player ended up at NYCFC - it would be interesting (which we will never know) what was the tipping point: $$$, Viera vs Friedel, overall club ambitions - all of the above?
So im reading about OTHER teams starting to sign people but as usual..... crickets from the Revs. News to Burns.... we DONT HAVE A TEAM HERE. Hire somebody that can close deals if you apparently cant. I dont want to go into the season with only cast offs or draft picks in camp DO SOMETHING BURNS.
I don't think we really know. I've felt that most of his tenure, his role has been more about negotiating deals and contracts, managing the cap and MLS' various funding mechanisms, etc. I think after Nicol, he got more involved in locating potential players, but I get the sense, reading between the lines, that Friedel and his people will be more involved in the role than Heaps was. Just my speculation, of course, but the signing of Friedel came with talk about scouts for the first time - and talk about all of Friedel's contacts.
Please tell me you're not seriously suggesting Lapper and Neveleff are assistant coaches who double as GMs.
I would assume they either have, or think they can, re-sign those two. It's also safe to assume both would have been attractive options in the expansion draft. I think the The short answer is yes. I would assume they're protecting him because they think they can either sign him to a contract or set up another loan.
this is what I was referring to basically that is signing players. Something he is terrible which I had mentioned several times over the past years as I was told by a former agent and Ron Waxman tweeted about a few months ago.
I like Kamara, but the Revs had 3 strikers all making $500K+ (Agudelo and Nemeth), and Kamara didn't really want to be here because he didn't fit the style. Style issue explained here: Baer: Kei Kamara could be a better fit for Vancouver than Fredy Montero December 11, 2017, 6:43PM EST Benjamin Baer Not that we know what style the Revs will play under Friedel as opposed to Heaps, but the trade suggests it won't change much. Biggest needs, IMHO, are revamp the defense (again), and wide midfielder.
Agudelo's been a big disappointment in my mind. For a guy who has had some brilliant streaks in his career, he can be really ineffective for long stretches.
Agreed, but I wonder how much of that was the way Heaps used him. If Friedel decides to keep him, I'd give him a chance to see if he can get more out of Juan before I write him off.
I hope Friedel builds his new attack around Nemeth and not Agudelo. I think Nemeth's game fits better with the reset of the team's strength.
Anyone have info on the rumore that we are signing a Swiss left back and in active negotiations with a foreign Rt back?
Nice to read about other, real teams, signing people. Meanwhile the revs sign ....tick, tick, tick.... Perhaps Friedel doesnt realize that Burns can't sign anybody... too slow.... too cheap. Maybe he's counting on the waver draft???
There's also a rumor that we're interested in Thomas Abbey, a Ghanain: https://ghanasoccernet.com/ex-heart...y-linked-with-mls-side-new-england-revolution
Here's a starting XI of African players in MLS which would likely beat the Revs Kei Kamara - Fandendo Adi David Accam - Ali Ghazal - Nosa Igiebor - Emmanuel Boateng Ambroise Ayongo - Larrys Mabiala - Chris Mavinga - Harrison Afful Clement Diop
I think he was referring to African players signed by Burns: Benjamin Angoua Xavier Kouassi Napo Matsoso Dimitry Imbongo Kalifa Cisse Otto Loewy Michael Augustine Emmanuel Osei Joseph Niouky Stephane Assengue
And with the turn of the league calendar, Revs drop from 1st to 9th in the allocation order: https://www.mlssoccer.com/allocation
