Is forcing your kids into a religion a form of mental abuse? Isn't adhering to the laws of a religion that suppresses the natural desires of a human, with threats of eternal hellfire if they don't follow pretty archaic and just plain wrong? How about going against the millions of pages of peer-reviewed literature and denouncing scientific theories such as evolution, the age of the earth, and so on.
