Everyone makes fun of AO and US crowds but in reality they don't help at all by going to the games. Realistically, how many people from AO Seattle went to the GCF, how many members of Timbers Army were there? I'm from NJ, I along with 50 others AOCJ members traveled to Foxborough for the Spain game, and DC for the Jamaica game, and even Philly for the Mexico game on Aug 10th. We need a 3 national stadiums, west coast (Seattle), central (KC), and East coast (New Meadowlands)
Getting from NJ to Foxboro is much easier than Seattle to LA. 300 miles as opposed to 1,100. It'd be more like going from Philly to Tampa.
not sure why the first three paragraphs led to the conclusion in the fourth? i dont think we need national stadiums and if we did, i cant imagine that your choices would be the best ones in each region.
That is true, but that was my best comparison at the time lol because I was not even thinking about going to travel to Tampa for that group stage Panama game. If the GCF was in Tampa, I'm sure AOCJ would have had at least 20-30 people there. I'm just saying, IMO, the East coast loves the NT much more
Just out of curiosity, which would you pick? Livestrong is small enough where we could get a strong pro-US crowd, and the New Meadowlands had about a 50-50 crowd vs Argentina, but not so great against Brazil in 10.
If we had to pick three, I'd go with the HDC, Liverstrong and RFK. But I also don't think we need national stadiums.
Maybe. But more Likely I think it has to do with most of the country living between Washington DC and Boston. A 450 mile stretch where basically half the country lives. That's just about the same distance between San Francisco and San Diego.
Im glad to know the village idiot is considered the recruiter for AO. If you want to talk to me about them in person, I'll be the guy in the long sleeve 08/09 home jersey with a mullet at the AO tailgate.
RFK? I'm sorry, but I've no idea, why you think that would be a suitable home stadium...sure, when everyones jumping, the stands swaying is a cool effect, but, its an old, outdated piece of crap. Theres a reason the New York fans changed the 'London' in "London Bridge is falling down" to RFK. FedEx would be more appropriate, or the Meadowlands, because they're more modern and have higher capacities.
Because giant stadiums like that with no public transport, would rarely be close to full and never full with us supporters. I'd go Red Bull stadium long before the Meadowlands.
Well, for one thing its not Giants Stadium any more, and the second thing, is that theres this shiny new rail line that lets you right out by the gate! Unless that doesn't count as public transportation.
okay, everybody except for you then. when somebody says they are going to a game at shea, i dont think they are using a time machine.
Guys, Giants' stadium= former NFL team's stadium Giant stadiums= plural stadiumSSSS, with the adjective giant, or huge, really big, like say two really big stadiums in DC and NY. P
No way dude. RFK is perfect for East Coast games. It's got public transportation and it's got awesome atmosphere and character. This is all conjecture though as it will never happen.
After reading these past emails, I completely understand why you guys said AO is corporate. I feel like total shit about it. I want to apologize from the bottom of my heart and say that you guys were right, & I was completely wrong. I'll still call you Portscum, but I now realize why you think your shit smells better than everyone else's. Its because they run as a corporation. So once again, I apologize, and your right.
