is there still work to be done on the outside or are they going to leave the steal structuring showing?
They continue to leave gaps in the seats to I assume insert a slightly smaller seat at a later date. Hopefully you guys that re-located into an assumed seat don't need all of the regular butt space of a regular seat and get stuck in a small seat! Also, is there gonna be any grass on the outside? Would have been a cool look to have a minimal amount of sidewalk and parking lot directly next to the stadium and instead some plush green grass. So far it looks like a whole lot of concrete.
Not a lot of greenery on the outside. See here: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YaITyZ99tbk&feature=player_embedded"]YouTube - Red Bull Arena Animated Tour[/ame] It's a pretty urban, industrial setting in Harrison.
Just what New Jersey needs! However, when the video goes up the stairs to the second level (49 second mark) it does flash a good amount of grass on the west(?) side of the arena, hopefully they keep to that plan.
I hope we get as many hipsters turning out for games as they show in the video. We will easily be the coolest team in the league. ;-)
The animated tour makes it seem like there will be one concourse from which to access both the lower and upper bowl. Is that correct? Or will there be a concourse (with concessions, restrooms, etc) on the ground level after you enter the gate?
As with GS you will enter from above and walk down to your seats. The concessions will be on the main level which will be after the first set of stairs.
I was kinda assuming that Sky Blue FC would be playing in Red Bull Arena next year, but their website says Sky Blue FC home games in 2010 will be played at Yurcak Field on the campus of Rutgers University in Piscataway, N.J. Considering that LA, Chicago, San Jose, and next year Philadelphia, all have MLS and WPS teams sharing a stadium, it seems odd that Sky Blue and Red Bull aren't working together. Maybe if they make it to the finals again next year they might move a playoff game to Red Bull Arena.
Yeah I don't get it. I'd like to take my daughter to a few Sky Blue FC games, but Rutgers is too much of a hike for me.
Or it could be that Sky Blue are simply not willing to pay the rent. Let's face it, it costs a lot less money to turn the lights on at Yurcak field then it will at Red Bull Arena.
Why did they install the seats that are under the section currently without a roof? Wouldn't it make sense to only install them in the sections protected from the elements?
I think the seats can stand a little moisture. Besides, they may have left plastic coverings over them.
If rain is going to affect these plastic seats, i'd hate to see what the snow will do to them in a months time. Somehow i doubt the rain will damage them in any way.
I remember being at a game at GS where the rain came into the concourse..........I hope plastic and steel doesn't get hurt by a little rain.
