I think this is a good friendly - not terribly exciting but interesting. There a good Jamaican club, they've played well against MLS talent before and their in our region (possibly future opponent in a tournament or perhaps an opportunity to scout a few players)... Besides, there from Jamaica - how can you not like them, mon?
We played them in the CONCACAF Champions Cup. We handled them alright, but I think it should be a fairly entertaining game for you all.
Well, they will count all of the season tickets whether they are there or not so that will give us close to 5k. I figure another 1 to 2k will show up so lets say 6,500 to be safe.
them and everyone else that night....nothing like standing cheering your team and not even being able to feel your feet or hands. Quite possibly the coldest I have ever felt in my life was at that game against Harbor View.
Real played very well with one exception - the last pass/shot... ---------------Real vs. HVFC Shots-----------19------4 Shots on Goal -- 11 ----- 2 I don't remember the corners but it was heavily in RSL favor. Basically outplayed and dominated the game, but gave up a soft counter-attack goal in the second half... questionable decision by DJ but the defense should never have allowed it to go that far. The goal was a fierce header from Akwari. RSL had chance after chance but couldn't seem to finish when it counted... Scarlett was Man of the Match - played very well and put some very nice balls through. Williams was a close second in my book. Lots of subs and such and some players looked ok and some looked pretty good... A good practice game, but the scoreline should have been 4-1 for RSL (or higher) if they could put more shots with force on the goalie. Anyway... that was my take from the game tonight for all you who could not be there. BTW, the crowed was sparse - a few thousand.
According to the Trib there was over 6K there.....(automatically counting season ticket holders probably skewed this total a bit.) I listened to the call on 1280. David James did much better than I thought he would......especially for his first time calling a soccer match. From the sound of it, Scarlett played well. This is seriously what our offense needs, consistent crosses into the box. Not short of the box, not over. Great acquisition, Scarlett is.
No, because he actually only made one truly spectacular save... most of the other "shots on goal" where directed right to him (although 2 with some force). The one he did very well to stop was a volley from Jamie Watson that resulted in the corner, which then provided the service for the Akwari goal. He did good, but he was not incredible - just RSL didn't force him to make too many hard saves that I can think of (2-3). BTW, the sub-goalie HVFC put in (Clayton?) was scary - he could not hold on to the ball and looked very shaky/nervous back there for them. (Un)Luckily they only put him in for the last 8 min. or so.
