We had chances but couldn’t finish. The play has really opened now up into the final minute. There were a couple moments in which Toronto could have easily been handed a red but weren’t.
I’m not sure that header was his fault. Nicholson got his head on it not Kamara. Kamara had a much better angle on it and likely would have found the back of the net.
Once again, these stats are from mlssoccer.com, since the billionaires are still squabbling and we can't watch. Bodmer Line: 7/3 = 2.333 PPG (points needed to snag last playoff spot at 43 point average divided by games remaining). No longer in play. Our maximum is 45 points, and the bottom playoff team has 48. On to 2020. Kroenke Line: no longer in play. (Maximum points that can be earned to win the average Wooden Spoon at just over 26 points). Hudson Line: no longer in play. (PPG needed to become the worst team in MLS history.) The record is 16 points, still held by D.C. United (3-24-7 in 2013). Rapids: 10-15-6, with 36 points in 31 matches = 1.161 PPG, on pace for 39.5 points for the season, after completing the worst first third of a season (2 points) in MLS history. Rapids: surrendering 1.871 goals per match (58 goals in 31 matches) on pace to surrender 63.6 goals for the season. No longer in play. The current MLS record is 74 goals allowed (Orlando City, 2018). FC Cincinnati (72 goals allowed and counting) is set to break the record. Coaching comparison: Hudson: 0-7-2, 2 points, 0.181 PPG in 9 matches. 12 GF (1.333 avg), 24 GA (2.667 avg), Diff = -12 Casey: 7-7-4, 25 points, 1.389 PPG in 18 matches. 31 GF (1.722 avg), 30 GA (1.667 avg), Diff = +1 Fraser: 3-1-0, 9 points, 2.250 PPG in 4 matches. 8 GF (2.000 avg), 4 GA (1.000 avg), Diff = +4 Never forget: Hudson’s all-time Rapids MLS regular season record: 43 matches as head coach, 8-26-9 record, 0.767 PPG; 48 GF (1.116 avg), 87 GA (2.023 avg), -39 differential.
Wide open game. Rapids gave up a silly PK for TFC's second goal. Two nice goals by the Rapids. Woodwork saved the 'Pids a couple of times. Kamara missed a PK and there were few other good chances. TFC seemed the better team but it could've gone either way. Proud that they didn't collapse after the second TFC goal. Nicholson and Rubio were my MOTM. Irwin had some good saves too,
D'oh! Those darned 3s and 8s look too much alike when I look quickly. *Hangs head in shame* Guess it's back to Kindergarten to re-learn my 1-2-4s and A-B-Ds.
Couldn't watch the game but got text updates from my daughter who attended the game (studying at U of T). Her words at the end were "Toronto played a super dirty game". Also mentioned Jozy had a couple "hissy fits".
That about sums it up. There was one moment where it truly appeared he was just out to hurt Abubakar.
Yes. This. There was a similar play later where he charged the back of Abubakar without playing the ball and didn’t see a second yellow. Don’t get it. Oh and that dirty Mavinga tackle on Rubio where he goes in two footed and diving from behind. I couldn’t find any gifs, but here’s the still image: 1173453544424259584 is not a valid tweet id Two easy opportunities for TFC to have seen a red in the game. It’s a shame we couldn’t play defense for the first 10-20min, and it’s a shame Rubio got caught way out on the defensive rotation that led to their 3rd goal. But hey. We fought back hard, and really gave Toronto a run for their money in this game. Plus, we’ve now scored 2 goals in every game since Fraser took over, and in road matches against tough home opponents. That’s gotta be worth something!
Missed the game, so can't comment on how it looked in real time. The gifs here seem pretty rough. A little surprised the ref would miss something like that, and more importantly that it was done TO the Rapids rather than BY the Rapids. Perhaps we are playing a bit of real soccer rather than just thug-ball? (I wonder if the anyone gets a talking to after this game. Doubt they discipline after the fact given playoffs are coming.)
Impressed they came back to level after conceding two so quickly. Too bad they could not get the point (or 3) as their Western Conference foes lost a lot of games, too. Sigh. Another "Great" Rapids season, firmly positioned toward the bottom!!! R
Didn't get to see the match - watching this and "highlights" - for the matches I ref (high level adult down to middling level youth), I like to think I would have gone straight red on this. But MLS is something unto itself....
I'm guessing since it's Canada, with all the hockey up there they've been desensitized to body checks. I blame EA for releasing NHL 20.
- From behind, check - No play on the ball, check - Reckless (not careless) with excessive force, check - Intent to harm, pretty clearly, check The discipline committee would probably be forced to look at it if it caused an injury, esp. a severe one -- because the fouled player walked away so does the 'perp'.
Richard Fleming posted this: 1173605984087883782 is not a valid tweet id Looks dirty to me Granted, Abubakar got lucky with the PK called on him. That could've been red too. The way I see it, the Rapids had 1 red card, TFC had 2 red cards. Shoulda been 10v9, which would've been entertaining to say the least!
