The bill was allegedly passed for their safety, but of course politicians couldn't be bothered about sex workers' safety. It was a public-relations bill, to show that they were taking a stand against sex trafficking and child prostitution. (Never mind that however one finds trafficked women and prostitutes, it's probably not going to be on an open website that law enforcement can easily monitor.)

 

I think this story fits in here and takes aim at key source of the problem.

Weird stuff. Then again, aside from the sex and a few other odd things (like branding!), how different is it from any religion that aggressively seeks converts and has a us vs. them attitude against nonbelievers?

 

Most religions don't collect naked photos of you and threaten to out them if you try to leave, and then use that threat to keep you in sexual slavery.

 

Most religions don't make you shave your head, give them your worldly possessions, and cut off your friends. But if they do, we give them tax protection, no?
