Rangers having a good season and possibly playing in both the Premiership and Europa League (via the Cup) next season is a great thing for Scotland. Scotland will always be stronger when both Rangers and Celtic are competitive and in Europe. Think about it, there is a chance Rangers, Celtic, Hearts, Aberdeen, and Hibs will all be in the Premiership next year; that is great for Scotland. Congrats on your promotion and cup triumphs.

For the US fans, Rangers are coming to Charleston SC for 10 days of preseason training in July and will play the Charleston Battery on July 6 in its only US match. Here are some more details on the Battery's website: Charleston Battery v Rangers

And here's the Battery Facebook page, probably be more discussion (Q&A) here: https://www.facebook.com/charleston.battery

We've also been linked with Joey Barton and Niko Kranjcar. Those signings would make a bit statement of intent.

Well Hibs gave us a bit of a going over on Saturday.

As for the aftermath. Horrible stuff. Not what anyone wants to see at all. It's been an bit of an eye opener for me though. I feel like I look at these things from the outside now and it does come across as if Rangers are fair game for abuse and violence in Scotland and that's viewed as being ok.

I think the fallout could drag on for a while.

Oh well, I missed the cup final, I thought it's this week. A shame, was looking forward to that.

Since I only sign in once every few months these days, I figured I'd just drop by to say hello.

So? You're still stuck in the Championship. Only now without the revenue of two home dates against Rangers.

Scottish cup >>> promotion for the Hibs.

For Rangers promotion was a bigger deal than the cup. Even beating the Celtic was a much bigger deal than Scottish cup finals. Not to say that the cup finals didn't matter for the Rangers, it's still a major trophy and a Europe ticket.

But the Hibs waited for the Cup win for such a long time, and they lost in the finals so many times. I'd like to compare this situation with something, but I just can't think of anything similar. The Hibs really were the butt of jokes because of losing in Scottish cup final all the time. It's very typical for people to have a conversation about the future of Scottish football and then at some point someone predicts Hibs losing another cup final.

So now that monkey is off their back. To be honest, I think that some older Hibs supporters would value this Cup more than 10 years in the Championship. Promotion = the club can go back to being a mediocre 1st division club, and the Hibs have been there and done that. But it's the first Cup win in all these supporters' lifetimes.

Besides, I think most supporters of smaller clubs like Hibs - Dundees, Aberdeen or what not - would take the Cup over promotion in that situation. It's just a major trophy. It's a legendary moment for them, it's a big win. It's not like Open Cup in the US or even FA cup in England, the Scottish Cup is a bigger deal in Scotland.

Promotion is important too, the Hibs are a money losing club as long as they are in lower division. Although, after the cup win they will probably sell much more tickets next year. And they will have a Euro game or maybe a few. So maybe they won't lose money next year.

Tickets to the Battery’s match against 54-time Scottish Premier League Champions Rangers Football Club are on sale now. The two teams will meet at MUSC Health Stadium on July 6th, kickoff is at 7:00pm and gates open at 5:00pm. Tickets start at $35 and can be purchased here or by calling 843-971-4625.
Rangers will participate in a 10-day preseason training camp in Charleston prior to the match with the Battery. The game is the only scheduled match that Rangers will play in the U.S.A. in 2016.
Traveling fans can find local hotel information, including special discounted rates, here.
With 54 league championships, 33 Scottish Cups, and 34 Scottish League Cups, Rangers have won more league titles and trebles than any club in the world. The Light Blues competed in Scotland’s first division every year from the date of the team’s inception in 1872 until 2012. Most recently, Rangers won the Scottish Championship, sealing the team’s return to top-flight football for the 2016-2017 season.
Also of note for fans interested in attending the international friendly is the completion of a major project at MUSC Health Stadium: the 3,000 square foot video board is up and running. The jumbotron will offer fans a new, more interactive experience in the stadium and will be heavily utilized during RFC’s visit.

On the Battery's Facebook page today, they said they've already sold over 1,000 tix in just 5 hours. Our stadium only hold 5K and while they sometimes do sell a few hundred standing room only tickets, I'm sure this one will sell out fairly quickly.
