That’s the worst thing that could happen to the Arsenal brand.

One of you London Town mandem who think prison is an extracurricular activity need to throw Piers off a Council Estate.

This is exclusively from memory (which is always dangerous) so don't bash me, but I'm not too surprised by this. Bergkamp was often battling little injuries at that point that would keep him out a match or two in a row. I remember my first ever trip to Highbury was in late September of 2003, and I was disappointed when he wasn't in the lineup. Vieira, I think, also had minor injury issues off and on. That same match I attended, he was subbed off early after picking up a knock. Additionally, I recall Wenger being somewhat hesitant to start Pires and Ljungberg in the same XI, as it unbalanced us a bit.

    Regardless, still an interesting stat.

The response on twitter has been hilarious. Lots of folks responding with "yeah, Piers, let's try to answer this question by retweeting it dozens and dozens of times.

On today's "Totally Football Show" podcast I was reminded of the punning sharpness that is James Richardson. I guess he some detractors, but there is something about him that draws you in. His quirky deviance? His quick wit? His thoughtful puns?

The best one from today was about yesterday's game which he dubbed "When Harry met Sallah". And there was another one which went "Alexis used to do one-two's with Ozil, and now he's doing one-two's with Lossl"... that was from a listener I think.

I still listen to 3-4 on a weekly basis, and for entertainment value and economy of discussion I'd have to go with Totally Football Show. But I like Arsecast too, although Andrew can get a little long in the tooth sometimes. Trailing those two by a distance are BBC 5Live Football Daily (most of their shows seem overly long, and they have a strange mix of very good and very bad pundits), and Guardian's Football Weekly (not nearly as good since Richardson and his producer jumped ship last summer)

    YMMV

While listening to today's arsenal podcast with the 89-ers, I decided to check Amazon. Lo and behold it seems to be now available for streaming! Just added it to my wishlist for a little later. :D

If your a bit down in the dumps about Arsenal 2018, and feeling a little nostalgic for Arsenal 2004, you might like this:

Scroll down to the second video... it made me smile. The most insightful thing from Robert is actually a Bergkamp tenet: as a striker your first touch is the most important touch.

Aha. But does that stop her for having a thing with Per? ;)

p.s. I really enjoyed listening to her... she had the comfortable maturity of someone who'd been round the block enough times without training wheels.

She's really smart and (rightly) confident in herself, her abilities, and her knowledge. She's going to be a great asset to American soccer for the next 40 years.

Any mention of Arsenal marking 100 years in the top flight for next season?

    Don't jinx it man!!!

But good catch! In 1919 Norris did the deal that every Spurs fan hates. It'll be 100 years but not 100 seasons, because of WWII.

You can't mention the 100 years without mentioning Norris, true. Then again, Arsenal have had seasons where they could've been relegated and haven't.

United have gone down and back up, so have Chelsea, Citeh and Liverpool during the 100 years that Arsenal have been in the top flight.

    Great credit to the club.
