So a new PSV thread. After a disappointing season PSV will once again compete for the title in the new season. I expect a lot of changes in the squad. Biggest lost so far is Hector Moreno which left the club for AS Roma for a bargain fee around € 6 million euro's. Some loan deals ended such as Siem de Jong, van Ginkel and Zinchenko.

Biggest (and the only one so far) signing is Hirving 'Chucky' Lozano. Seems a highly rated winger, one of the brightest talents of Mexico. But they said that as well for Pereiro and he didn't deliver so far. I did watch the Mexican and he is definitely the kind of player we need; lot of pace, dribbling skills and someone who creates chances.

PSV still tries to sign Marco van Ginkel, which I consider a good player for us. Hopefully we can sign him on a permanent deal. He isn't good enough for Chelsea and will not be in the near future. They should get rid of him I suppose, he needs to play a couple of full seasons instead of getting loaned to different teams. I hope Chelsea will be flexible in this case and complete this deal in the next couple of days or weeks. I don't see anything in a 3rd loan deal.

I think the next task is to fix the defense. With Moreno leaving, we lose our commander so to say in the backline. He was the most experienced player and guide our defense. We should buy at least one replacement but might consider two centre backs as Isimat and Schwaab both are not good enough to play in the first 11. Today Derrick Luckassen was suddenly linked to us but luckily his manager denied a deal was in the making.

A lot of players a rumoured to leave us. Napoli seems to have an aye on Zoet. Arias might go to the PL, teams like Swansea but also Liverpool and Tottenham are mentioned. Willems was linked to Lyon. Guardado is linked with a move to the MLS. Zenit made a bit on Pröpper last winter break and they might come back for him. If those players leave, I hope the complete the deal soon. We need to renovate our squad soon, our first competitive match is in 4 weeks time.

Only our front line seems to be fixed, although I think the board will consider a decent bid on Luuk de Jong.
Pereiro, Gudmundsson, (Luuk de Jong) Locadia, Lammers, Lozano, Bergwijn is a fine front line to start with.

Would love for PSV to go after Jerry St. Juste. He's ready for a move to the so-called Big 3. Both Feyenoord and Ajax are all set with their defensive cover, so PSV would be ideal.

I don't think PSV can afford to waste their money to an overhyped player who makes every 2/3 games a crucial mistake and is way to short for a centre back. We just sold our best defender so fans expect a good defender in return. Besides that, Jordy de Wijs is just as good as the Heerenveen defender. De Wijs will get his chance to proof himself in pre-season. If we sign new defenders it had to be a new Moreno, an experienced and quality player who can guide our defense.

I hope the van Ginkel will be completed this week, although Chelsea seems not very keen to let him go. After that I hope more players will leave. Players like Ritzmaier en Maher need to find a new club, they have no future at PSV. And then we need to have sell 1 or 2 good players for good money. Willems will probably leave and has a € 8m, price tag. Arias is more expensive and should get us the same amount as Karsdorp € 14m plus add-ons. Zoet and Pröpper might leave as well, but that is not certain yet. I don't mind if Luuk de Jong will leave. He is one of our best paid players, not a bad one but we have Locadia and Lammers already.

Concerning PSV, I saw that Aad de Mos was very optimistic for the season to come. He even claimed that the young players of the PSV Academy are better than those of Ajax on an individual level, but that the Ajax teams were superior collectively. We'll see.

I like Lammers, I see in him a potential top player

  6. Uhm, not Feyenoord. We still have CD Sven van Beek recovering, and no quality back up for Kongolo at the lb position if he is needed to move into CD position.
So we still need a left back and a fast CD.

PSV are after Luckassen of AZ, and they just gave their French U19 CD talent a first team contract.
Only happens when I can put two stars for the twentiest title in it:)

  7. It's so funny. I pissed off a few Yank Abroad posters when I debunked the "interest" of PSV and Ajax for Erik Palmer-Brown hyped by only one source, Metro NY. Two of them kept on telling how good he was, as if they needed the "interest" as a confirmation of their believe about his qualities. One of them even went off the track telling me that in the Dutch clubs youth teams no CD is as good as he is! As I only explained that there is no interest, given the situation at both clubs and that knowledgable club watchers like Jaap de Groot or that guy from Eindhovens Dagblad donot mention him at all, it only made them more mad and again told me how good he was, while that hasnot got anything to do with the fake news. But they seem to need that "interest" to give a base to their believe about his qualities.
Neither PSV or Ajax are going to spend almost 400 000 euros Non EU citizen minimum wage on someone they donot need.

It would have been more logical to link him with Feyenoord, given he will be a free transfer in Januari and we have room for a CD.

^^^^too funny. I guess those guys haven't heard about de Ligt who is better as a 17 year old than Palmer-Brown will ever be

Most of the time I don't take Aad de Mos that serious, however we do have some talented youth players. We seems to struggle to bring them into our first team. We also have some good former academy players already in our team like Zoet, Brenet, Hendrix and Locadia. But after that it stalled a bit.

For the upcoming season I hope Lammers and Gudmundsson will get regular minutes during the season. Both did well last season in the reserve team scoring 17 and 18 goals respectively with both also had 4 assists. I hope Lozano, Locadia and Pereiro will be the starting front 3 with Bergwijn, Lammers and Gudmundsson as substitutes. Ramselaar can play as a winger as well. I hope Luuk de Jong finds a new club. Good player, but needs players with a decent cross. We have different kind of players now

On the midfield Dante Rigo seems to be the biggest prospect. Very technical midfielder, great passing game, but physically still a kid. I hope we sell Pröpper for a lot of money, Guardado might leave (suddenly Betis is linked today) so this might pave the way for young players like Rigo. Also Rosario seems to get a chance in pre-season.

Oh, and I just Joel Piroe is tear Germany apart in the u-19 European Championship. Another young talent.

Pereiro is not used in the right way. He is a Van Persie player type. Not a winger. Van Persie started as a winger but was not as sharp as when he switched for the ST position. And yet, ST isn't his best position, his best position is 9,5. I guess Pereiro is the same. He clearly lacks pace to play on a wing and beat his oponent.

I heard PSV might sell him to Lazio or Atalanta. His value is 9-10 millions now. Not more.

PSV will probably need to sell at least two players, especially after spending big money on Lozano. I would say Arias and Pereiro have the biggest values : about 10 millions. I don't think Arias would bring as much as Karsdorp. Keep in mind he's three years older.

Then you got Willems, Luuk and Propper...Willems got only one year contract left and has been stagnating with PSV. I guess 6-8 millions would be good. PSV should have sold him two years ago, his value was more.
Luuk...I don't think a club would put big money on him after his flop in Germany. And he's not young anymore. Had a quite bad season with PSV. Between 6 and 8 millions for him too.
Propper I don't know...I think he's also in this category of price but maybe a club could come up with a bit more.

  11. I think you are right. Would be a waste if it isnot tried with de Jong.

You talk a lot of nonsense. Zenit made a bid last winter for Pröpper of € 14 million euros already, so why accept less money. Arias achieved far more than Karsdorp, especially on international level. Arias played 2 season in the CL and was part of the team which survived the group stage and almost went to the quarter final. He is a regular in the Colombian NT, which is a better NT than The Netherlands. Six PL teams shown interest, so Arias won't go for only €10 million. Pereiro wont leave at all, and certainly not for 9 million. aPSV need to pay 20% of that fee to his agent so they end up losing money to still a talented young player. I think he is more of second striker BTW. He seems to me phlegmatic. He should be more energetic, be more involved if he want to succeed. Only Willems price tag has been according to all rumours, around € 8 million due to his 1 year contract.

It s about potential, not achievements. I highly doubt Arias would cost as much as Karsdorp. Wait and see. Last time I've read something about him was in june and it was Swansea offering 8m£ which is the price I'm rating him.

I don't really believe about the Zenith offer for Propper. There are a lot of fake rumours in the transfer market. Ajax said they refused a 25mo offer for Bazoer and few months later he was sold to Wolfsburg for 12 millions. There was a rumour about Atletico offering 20mo for Fischer few years ago as well, and that seemed to be fake.
I doubt PSV would reject 14mo for Propper, who is a 26yo average player with limited potential. They accepted to sell Bruma for 15mo right after he had a phenomenal season.

PSV players only have a big value when they are very hyped like Depay was. Don't dream about Arias, Propper or Pereiro leaving for around 20 millions or more, they are not playing for Ajax.

And please explain me the difference between 9,5 and second striker before to say I'm talking nonsense...

It doesn't matter what you believe or not, Marcel Brands himself confirmed Zenit made a bid last winter. Actually, they already shown interest last year summer.

More then a week later and we bring in Luckassen as new centre back. I don't know what to think. Strong, tall player with enough pace but also a player who makes alot of mistakes. Completely different player compared to Moreno. I usually don't like those kind of players. I go to AZ quite often, he did have a decent season while his team was dissapointing. But he did had his break-trhough as a midfielder, not a defender. Hopefully another centre back will be signed.

This weekend it seems the future of van Ginkel will be determined as well. Latest news is a loan deal is more likely than a permanent signing. Although PSV still aims to a permanent deal. I hope for the latter, don't like my club depends on another club.

In the 3rd qualifing round either Osijek or Luzern will be our opponent. Seems to me a great draw. Decent sides so not underestimation, travel distant seems fine as well. Great destinations for the away supporters. I think it is fair to expect a win against either of those two teams.

No not really. He form as radically dropped and was never going to make it big either. So yeah frankfurt no surprises there.eyebrows are alway raised when players leave eredivisie to early. This is a classic case of not leaving early enough. If you think about, it has all gone to waste given how extensively he was used in NT. This is when you look back and wonder why players like pieters were not given the chance to compete for that LB position , who though play in mid table clubs but still are consistent performers. This is where it has all being going wrong for NT especially when you have amateur coach like Danny Blind selected to do the job. Still think if pieters would have played regularly for NT, after 2014 WC , he would have thrived by now at international level. He is not a bad defender and given his experience in epl, its a shame that he was never seen as someone who could have strengthen the backline better.

The transfer sums up the state of dutch football for the following reasons :

    1) We are talking about a player that was considered to be very promising, being given a starting spot in a major tournament with NT, and constantly linked to big clubs.
He ends up signing for a mediocre club, clearly inferior to PSV. And not even for good money because PSV clearly sucks at managing players contracts. Remember Afellay who signed for 3 millions to Barca for the same reason. Several other cases.

    2) Willems abilities as LB have always been questionned. He is formed as central midfielder and always showed big weaknesses in defence while being a good player on the ball. Yet no dutch coach ever tried to use him as midfielder. He never progressed as LB, such a big waste.

3 ) No big club, or even mid PL club is willing to pay 7 millions for him, they would easily pay this for a french or spanish or whatever big country player, even if that player was not progression anymore. Willems is not old, he's only 23. This shows how dutch players are being seen. I can't imagine a french promising player to sign for Frankfurt, wtf.

And Pieters sucks, I'm frequently reading the Stoke city threads and they all agree to say he is average. He is surely no NT standards, we need better.

  19. So, how is PSV shaping up for the new season with sells and buys?
Lozano is a big catch. Mexicans are hoping PSV will turn him in a Romario quality like player.
That would be great, because he specifically choose the Netherlands and PSV over better paying leagues just because of his expectations to learn a lot over here.

Well PSV will not have the distraction of European football this season as they crash out of the Europa League to a Croatian team I've never heard of. How much longer does Cocu last as trainer?

  21. PSV just ended a glorious unbroken run in Europe only behind Barcelona and Porto against nobodies. Great job.

I wonder if they are now favorites for the Eredivisie with no other distractions. Let's hope Ajax doesn't repeat this trick in their qualifying match coming up.

There's no way they can be favorite of anything with their current squad, their defence is very weak and the midfield is just average.

  24. That's plain stupid. PSV seems to have their budget planned with 6 million income from the EL. Now they are out they have a 6 million problem they have to solve by selling players.
How stupid can you get to base your budget on something that isnot certain. At least cut that amount in half if you want to take it into account.
Feyenoord learned their lessons the hard way and never budgetted with European income from the EL when they werenot 100% sure they were in the group stage.

The PSV problem is that Cocu does not have the balls to get out of the team mediocre players such as Hendrix, Propper, and especially Luuk De jong. I was never convinced by Van Ginkel. Pereiro or Lammers should play 9 with Bergwijn in support. He is much better in an axial position than on the wing.
