Oh you don't give them enough credit. They've invested plenty into their defense. Hutchinson, Marcelo, Bouma, Tyton, Derijck, Strootman, van Bommel and Jorgensen all brought in the past 3 years...Am I missing anybody?
Well this is a PSV thread so this probably isn't the right place to discuss this. The Dutch media coverage about the traditional top three has left me flabbergasted over the past three weeks, let's leave it at that. I'm not sure how much of that gets through to non-Dutch posters.
Who out of all of those players you list are defenders? PSV right now are in talks about Maher. That's insane to me. It's clear that they need proper defenders. Marcelo is crap. Derijck while having potential has discipline issues. Bouma is past it. As is Bommel.
Of course! I'm not even arguing against the amount of coverage. I'm talking about what people have been saying. Dutch pundits live in lalaland.
Oh I'm not defending the players defensive capabilities, just pointing out that in terms of transfer fees and salary they represent a pretty significant investment over the past few years.
Well yes but that's my point. They've invested plenty in positions where they didn't really need strengthening, as far as I'm concerned.
I am finally back. I hope everyone is doing well who has been cool enough to post in this thread. Been hectic at my work the first few months of this year. Here are some pics from this weekend's match/victory: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151418515603953.1073741832.175391643952&type=1
Their entire defense is rubbish. It's rather amazing considering the money they have spent. Marcelo still manages to be the very worst out of a very poor back four.
Quite right, one can have the best attack in the league but if the team cannot defend it will always lose to quality opponents. PSV fans better hope for a 2nd place finish or they will witness a massive exodus of talent over the summer (Lens, Strootman, Mertens, Toivonen likely to be transferred and one hopes that van Bommel retires to assist Cocu when Advocaat leaves)
Did you see Van Hooijdonk announce Bommel's retirement on SV yesterday? Waterkneus wasn't too best pleased about it.
They will become like Feyenoord just a few years back. When that deal falls through with the selling of their stadium ground they're in some serious shit. A lot of players will leave this summer and with no money to get new players and a neglected youth academy things aren't looking good for PSV.
Ive said that at the start of the last 3 seasons. Its time they get rid of this board of directors. Theyre clueless.
Versatile forward, blistering acceleration, attitude problem, and love of rap music... hm, Ryan Babel v.2.0? Pass.
He's very talented. I hope he doesn't do a Babel, in my opinion he is more talented and can be amazing.
Who will win the Dutch Cup trophy, you look tonight match between PSV and AZ. Will PSV salvage the season? Will they make the fans happy? For those who want to see the game on the internet, I found this announcement: http://www.nextround.net/watch-manchester-united-live-stream
I heard that PSV already had a platform erected with "PSV Beker winnaar 2012-2013" (Cup winner 2012-2013) on it............
