    reason for upgrading

Just wondering, what was your main (or one of your main) reason(s) for upgrading to premium membership??

I need the "view all new posts" option which was pulled today.

No biggie though as I would have joined for the sake of supporting the site soon enough.

I was one of those suckers that donated money when they asked awhile ago, so I was upgraded automatically from that :D

But if that didn't happen, it would have been for the pull down menus and the go to first post button.

I just want BS to remain. Too many dot-com failures in my world, and I'd hate to see BS go the way of the dodo (or the way of the Branco).

After something like five years of free news & commentary, I felt like Huss deserved my money.

i like the "who's online". As well as no "we're busy" messages.

I like the visual format, with the thinner yellow bar down the side. and fewer ads.

Not as important as my general desire to be supportive, but still relevant.

    idea.

perhaps non-premium members could have a link to see the thinner yellow bar in a seperate window?

This way, they can see what we're referring to.

    Theres my problem right there......

There is no way to see what I'm getting IF I upgrade. I too have supportive nature, and might upgrade sometime. But my BS experience really hasnt changed all that much. Except for all my old threads that I used to visit being gone. Its no faster or slower, I havent hit a busy signal yet, I could care less who is only cause I am most of the time, and I dont care about the ads because I am not here to look at the ads.

I'm not seeing a benefit. Not trying to be a cheap bastard at all, just saying. If I felt a benefit would come my way I'd upgrade in a heartbeat.

I'll get a screen shot up but it won't show you much except the look.

All the little features like forum jump and quick links and stuff are usability things not look and feel.

Though you will see things liek forum jump, search box, no ads and other benefits of senior membership.

    Same here.

((Either Huss or GPK still owe me a T-shirt from last year's Big Soccer Prediction league. Huss says it was GPK's responsibility to distribute the prizes. GPK say's it was Huss'. All I'd like is my T-shirt!!))

It was hours, not GPKs. Whenever we got the list - months after - all our shirts were sold out.

Quite simply, it's the right thing to do. There's no such thing as a free lunch. If you're a frequent user and you can afford the 30 bones, there really shouldn't be any question about it. Even without the bonuses of avatars, sigs, forum jumps etc, it's obvious that the site needs financial support from its users to continue. I honestly don't get why some people are so upset about it. Would you stop buying your morning paper if the price went up 8 cents a day?

BigSoccer has helped get our website exposure amongst the most ardent fans.

BigSoccer has helped us (the fans) purchase a 30x60 ft flag.

BigSoccer has helped us organize events and gatherings, even in other countries.

BigSoccer has done alot of things for myself and for US soccer in general if you think about it.

$30 is a small price to pay.

I propose that the BigSoccer folks change the Premier Membership to a progressive fee. Yacht owners could be charged $100/year while someone who is unemployed with college loans (like myself) could be charged $5/year. $5 is a much bigger percentage for me than $100 is for most of you. A flat tax doesn't work for America and it doesn't work for BigSoccer!

Sounds like a liberal to me. So do you propose that Huss gets to tour the US of A and check out our digs. $30 is a drop in the bucket for the news and views you can get no where else. You can give up your 6 pack for 5-6 weeks and with that get your premium membership plus loose that beer gut! I'll have to give up 6 microbrews at the quakes games for the remainder of the season. It's a big sacrifice but one that I'm willing to take for the Gipper! ;>)

Regards from a parched Quakes fan who paid off his college loans in 1992!!

    I paid $30 because I didn't want a free ride.

It's like going to a restaraunt ... you don't have to tip the waitress but you do anyway because it's the right thing to do. If you appreciate the service you pony up the dough.

I appreciate the service at BigSoccer so I wanted to help out.

Ditto!!! BigSoccer is the best gathering place for soccer and non-soccer discussion IMNSHO. In the past two years I have gotten my $30 worth.

My reason for upgrading: to use my sig line to send a message to freeloaders who complain about having to pay for a sig line.
