Up 1-0 Down to 10 men Then you give up an own goal settle for a draw Olsen needs to be sent packing before midnight!!!
That was clearly a red and an incredibly stupid foul. That said, I was shocked we managed a point, especially after going down to 9 men. Apparently Ashton's tactical game plan worked - not only did we score two - count 'em two - goals, we defended well and managed to keep the best team in MLS in check.
If "Andouille Ocho" - the hell if I'm going to look up his name - is channeling Benny Iroha/Mario Gori, I'm going to start watching the team again. That's right I went there . . . . 1996 reference!
A goal from a corner kick and a draw with 10 players against the best in the league is nothing to whine about. Huge fail for Toronto who couldn't hit shit tonight
Not bad. Going back to 2 dmids in front of the back four seemed to close the flood gates. The defensive organization was much better, too. Even with the two DMs, DCU were still able to create dangerous chances leading up to the DC goal. However, apparently the hex is still on. Sam's challenge was inexplicable. Then, Jeffrey's lack of poise on the own goal was painful and darkly comical to watch. Given the circumstances, it was great to see the team stick together and pull out the draw.
I was shocked they couldn't figure out our bunker. Morrow was wide open all night but had no one in the box to pass it to. And Bradley looked like he wanted to be anywhere but on the field. Not sure we really want our ball kids doing bush league gamesmanship....they should leave that to the pros.
Ben Iroha was great! An old favorite of mine. Andouille Ocho might catch on, if he can keep getting pt.
Someone help me with the new video review rule. As best I could tell the straight red was not reviewed. I didn't see the ref make the little box sign with his hands. Nick missed the game winner, But no surprise there. We're getting creamed tactically. Coming out of half-time Toronto was completely in control within 30 seconds. It was like a hockey power play. Clearly Vanney's initial adjustments to playing up 11-10 were superior to Ben's playing down 10-11. It was half lucky and half a testimony to our guys' efforts that we didn't lose. Did Ben really not use his last sub? Is Mullins hurt?
It may not be saying much, but I thought he had his best game so far this year, tonight. I thought he was taken down in the box, as I was looking down on the play from the mezzanine, and there was (obviously) no call made. He was hustling around on both offense, and defense, and he's about the only player on the team that can win a header. Unfortunately, there was never anyone near him to head the ball to. Also, Ben needs to sit Sean Franklin, and play Chris Adoi-Atsem, immediately!
They're not required to review it if it's obvious and correct. Or at least not an obvious error or mistaken identity.
Equal to malpractice not putting in a third sub, if only as a time waster. And honestly if that's Neagle's best game - which it might be - we should cut him tomorrow.
That reasoning is pretty dumb. If you want him gone due to the last 6 games you'd have an argument. You have none with tonight's game. Here's tonight Play really well and deserve a lead against the top team in the league despite missing your best wide midfielder and starting freaking Jared Jeffrey AND Marcelo Sarvas due to injuries to Harkes and Vincent Lloyd Sam player makes a really dumb play to get a red. If you want to blame the coach for that, that's on you Defend well and get unlucky with a deflection Continue to defend well and hold the top team in the league to zero shots on goal while down a man.
I'm not trying to argue, but but by definition isn't every straight red obviuos and correct in the eyes of the ref? The rule only makes sense if every straight red gets video review. What ref is going to give a straight red and then decide he wants another look?
If the VAR who is looking at the video thinks the referee has made an obvious error he can recommend that the referee view the video. But the referee has the final say. I don't expect we'll see many red cards rescinded
And we shouldn't. That's not what VAR is for. It's for egregious mistakes or things the officials don't see.
