Regardless, he's going to be leading our team into this copa america and world cup cycle. Let's get behind this man!
Think it's so random that I haven't been able to land on a feeling other than, huh? Will root him on and hope for the best.
The past is a window that gives clues to the future but the future is seldom just a repeat of the past. No one can know for certain how Carlos Queiroz will do with Colombia but there are a few things about Queiroz that will affect how he will do no matter where he goes. First, Queiroz is extremely competitive, jealous of any real or perceived challenges to his authority, has a thin skin while at the same time sporting a tongue and temper that can bite not just his foes but sometimes his friends too. Second, and for some of the same reasons, Queiroz abhors pressure from anyone but himself; once he settles in, Colombian fans will not like how he will paint Colombia's status and chances. He prefers his team to be seen as outsiders not favorites no matter the tournament or opponent he faces. He fears not only complacency from his team but also the load of any expectations that might go unfulfilled. Third, Queiroz will not happily tolerate any prima donnas and will struggle if instead of a team he is expected to manage a group of stars and egos as big as his own. Finally, Queiroz is as experienced, shrewd and knowledgeable a coach as you will ever find. He certainly has all that is needed to turn Colombia into and even stronger and better football team. Except with Queiroz and his tactics, discretion is always the better part of valor. His first order of priority on the field of play is not to concede. As long as his team has not conceded, Queiroz will be confident his team will find a goal or two or more to win.
Pinto supposedly is hated by the Federation and would have no leverage when convincing people to do things his way. This guy is going to come in and demand that he does things his way day one. That is a key difference.
Why are you even a fan? The guy hasn't coached a game and you are already bitching and being negative
Thanks for the feedback. Let me ask you this - during CQ’s time in charge was he known for making unorthodox lineups or calling up players you would least expect / dread and would certain players be omitted despite solid club form? And were those omissions justified (arrogant/troublemaker player like you mentioned above) our current core team is pretty level headed for the most part with only one player (Cardona) who made headlines for the wrong reasons. Although there are some others who will be interesting to see how they gel with CQ. Our previous manager was actually pretty good with his call ups during his time in charge. There was never any controversial roster for any major tournament we played in. Personally, I felt Pekerman struggled in big game situations and his in-game tactics appeared flat/predictable during our 14-18 run. I’m curious to see what kind of adjustments CQ makes with the NT.
