I'm not saying Chili is a bad team. I'm saying the way they play fits better with Portugal's style. Chile is very similar to mexico, playing forward all the way, light and emotional using their main assets which are speed and some skills. However they are defensively, tactically and physically poor. Against Germany they looked like a kids team playing against adults. The Chileans had difficulty against Germany and even Australia because they are physical and clearly they don't deal well with that. Can you believe Gary Medel, their central defender, is barely 1.70cm? That's a midget height for a defender. Sure they have Alexis, Sanchez and Arturo Vidal, but most of their players play for chilean and mexican clubs which aren't exactly elite leagues, no offense to them. If Portugal is able to play compact and press their defense, they will start to panic and give the ball away. Otherwise Portugal will suffer. I'm pretty sure Portugal will sit back and be dangerous on every attack. This is a game for Adrien, William and/or Danilo.
Germany will be paying off the refs they don't wanna see us in the final Might even paythem to red card cristiano History always shows they are not to be trusted , I still remember world war 2
I'm mostly worried about their pressing and fast paced attack against Fonte-Alves-Eliseu We should be able to impose ourselves in midfield and slice through their defense
Andre Gomes is too ponderous and lethargic, if he plays he needs to play with a vibrancy and pace of play he hasnt shown since he was at Valencia.
Though I am not going to dispute the fact that André Gomes didn't have the best season at Barcelona, he's often used as the scapegoat for a bad season. But this is the national team and a whole different ball game. IMO, he did well on the first to games. Against Russia he even had some brilliant pieces of play e.g. that assist for CR7 in the box. He's not fast, but he plays simple and rarely loses balls. He closes spaces well and has good stature something chileans players clearly do not have, so that will an asset in an attempt to block their progression. I foresee the game to be a tactical battle, and Portugal is better at that.
I don't agree sorry, he seems to lose the ball quite often. He's passing seems to be more backwards or sideways than forward. He's unfairly treated for sure, but there is some substance in the criticism in my opinion. What position did he play at Valencia? Perhaps he's not in the right role?
He used to have a good shot from outside of the box at Valencia, scored a few times there, but we haven't seen that from him in over a year.
Part of Me thinks we should play William And Danilo without Pepe in this game But the team Would Probably be horribly unbalance This is a game For Andre gomes , despite his haters he will be needed
There should be an app for that. Fwiw I've never seen Z and Christopher Walken at the same place at the same time.
