Dallas cowboys stadium - artificial turf ford field - artificial turf FIU stadium - artificial turf the pitch at dallas cowboys stadium looks really ugly. Looks like a carpet
1) The field did look like crap but Mexico and Costa Rica did not seem to mind all that much. 2) Detroit is installing grass for their matches on Tuesday. 3) They played on carpet at FIU in 2009 and no one complained.
As much as Jerry World is spectacular, it's terrible for soccer with the narrow pitch and awful surface. They should've played at the Cotton Bowl. 92,000 seats with grass and regulation pitch dimensions. Probably far cheaper to rent as well. So what if it doesn't have some stupid HD jumbotron
It doesn't have as many luxury boxes that they can sell for thousands of dollars. They make more money at Cowboys Stadium than they would at the Cotton Bowl.
Ford Field was definitely a good choice for today. As for any future use I won't comment. Detroit is less than 4 hours (either by car or train) from about 30% of Canada's population. So at the very least at least for tonight alone it makes sense. Buffalo would've been a decent choice for pretty much the same reason.
new meadowland stadium had grass on top of rug for the argentina friendly a couple of months back. I don't know what they will do this time around.
you can still see the gridiron marks on FIU stadium we have plenty of real grass stadiums and plenty of SSS in this country. It's really odd that they've chosen venues that don't showcase our better stadiums.
