Moderators, if you feel this is in poor taste, please don’t hesitate to delete. Thank you in advance. Hello Galaxy fans. Please don’t think I’m coming to troll, I’m simply coming to ask for your help. Many of you have publicly expressed your support of for the situation that we Crew fans are finding ourselves in. For that we thank you. You know, we're not that different your club and ours. We are both meccas for arts and culture within our own states. We both seem to love things. Fat Sigi, Berhalter, Robbie Rogers, Frankie, Hesmer.... You have your Griffith Observatory, we have.... ummm... Ohio State. You have your Hollywood sign, we have our....ummm.....airport. You know.... I'm just going to stop there. I can't fathom a league without the Galaxy. Hopefully you feel the same about The Columbus Crew. I ask that you give us just 60 more seconds of support to go to https://savethecrew.com/letter and sign the letter. You can select your club at the bottom and I believe that the more fans from around the league that sign this, the louder the collective voice will be. Selfishly, I say “thank you” for helping support us in this time of need. But also, I remind you to think about the other teams that this could happen to. Some day in the future, this could happen to your team as well. Please don’t let the league start a bad precedent. Thank you, Ian Fontaine
Signed. Of course, the sad thing is that it appears part of the purchase agreement contained language allowing Precourt to move the team to Austin, so there may be nothing the league or commissioner could do now if they wanted.
Signed. And mind you, I live in Austin and would LOVE to have an MLS team, but not at the expense of taking another team from another city. #SaveTheCrew
You had me at hello. Signed. I was actually thinking of telling my ticket rep that I would renew my season tickets if Phil came out saying he would vote against a C-bus move. I would have asked that the Galaxy field a competitive team next year, but ...
Done. Good luck! PS- I may be moving to Austin so this may not be in my personal interest. But you guys are OG and deserve to keep your team.
Unclear whether that functionally has already happened because the owners approved a sale with a right to move clause. Differing statements about this on Twitter (surprise, surprise) but it is not beyond the realm of possibility that the whole protest is useless and the boat has already sailed.
It's been pretty big. Lead off story on our local news when it first broke. Daily reports on it for awhile. City is approving whatever they need to approve. Folks are pretty excited.
StillKickin AND SkyDog in Austin? Might have to submit my short film to SXSW and hope for a road trip.......
And don't forget the prestigious (I think) Austin Film Festival. A friend of mine won Best Sitcom Teleplay Spec in 2016. Notice the title of his episode. He also wrote a screenplay about a for-profit suicide hotline.
I don't know for sure. Going off @Bill Archer 's piece. However, any contact for the sale of a franchise would require the approval of the other owners. With that in mind, if the owners approved the PSA for Precourt's acquisition of the Crew and it contained a clause permittng relocation to Austin, that might be tantamount to ownership having already voted in favour.
First, thank you all for your support. I was lucky enough to get out to StubHub a few years ago for Galaxy Vs Montreal. I came away REALLY impressed with the whole organization. Thank you again.
