Sandro Reyes, the young Filipino booter who was given a 3 year scholarship in the training academy of FC Barcelona in Spain, might try out for the team, according to the PFF head.
“Some players that are playing in Europe like Sandro Reyes will be going for a tryout for the team in July. We’ll give them a chance to tryout for the team after the preparation in China,” Araneta said.

Looks like he'll play for Phil U15 in AFF U15 tourney in Thailand. First game against Malaysia. Apparently one of his teammates in U15 is also playing for a youth team in Barcelona.

He is no longer with FC Barcelona after the club was forced by FIFA to let go of all their underaged foreign born players a few years ago. For awhile we do not know what happened to him, but he apparently signed on with a different club in Barcelona and is currently playing on one of their youth teams, presumably after obtaining Spanish citizenship, due to a rule allowing citizens from former Spanish colonies to gain citizenship after 3 years of residency.

Sandro Reyes has been officially included as part of the U15 and will be playing their first game today.

The Under-22 side traveled to Japan last Thursday, 6 July 2017 for a training camp in preparation for the AFC U23 Championship China 2018 Qualifiers and the 29th Southeast Asian Games. The camp was arranged by the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) with the help of the Japan Football Association (JFA).

Jesper Nyholm is a regular in the Allsvenkan, the top tier in Sweden has expressed a desire to play for the Azkals in the past, but he has postponed a decision on whether to play for the Philippines, as he is hoping for a callup to the Swedish national team. His agent apparently wants him to wait.

"AIK Jesper Nyholm match winner against Elfsborg is hunted by the Philippines national team.

League boss Thomas Dooley wants to join the player as soon as possible - but the midback has not yet decided how to do.

"I'm flattered, but Rikard has told me to wait a bit," said the midfielder.

Philippine federation, former German player Thomas Dooley, including 106 matches for the Kaiserslautern, has been in contact with the defender.

    - The Philippines needs midway. They have some older people who are about to leave. Their federation has been on me for a while now. I told Rikard Norling and made a reasoning with him.

"He has told me to wait a bit," says Nyholm.

Is the Swedish national team you are aiming for?

"Yes, that's all players do. Rikard said he thought I had great potential and therefore I should wait. I'm listening his advice now and then we'll see.

"It's like flattering that the Philippines want me."

In other news in the Philippines Football League, the Younghusbands have transferred to Davao during the recent transfer window, from Meralco Manila along with many other players from different teams. With San Miguel Corporation sponsoring Davao, it has allowed them to acquire a lot of good players from other teams, with the goal of eventually competing for the PFL Championship and participating in AFC club competitions.

It would be good to see Davao being competitive in the PFL since they're the only team from Mindanao. Ceres is doing a good job representing the Philippines in the AFC Cup. They won the ASEAN zone and have a good chance at winning the inter-zone playoffs but I don't think any of the four zonal playoff teams will be able to beat the West Asian representative in the final.

It is the first time a Philippine club has gone this far in the AFC Cup. Any wins from this point on is a bonus, but I think Ceres have a fair chance of making the final. They are practically unbeatable at home with their outstanding fan support. However as you mentioned facing the West Asian rep is going to be a challenge.

As for Davao, they are near the bottom of the standings at the moment but with the influx of quality players during the transfer window, they are probably going to end up in the upper half of the table by the end of the season, but I don't think they will win it this year.

Ceres has been getting a lot of byes because of their AFC Cup schedule. I am sure they are going to catch up with the leaders eventually.

Good result for the Philippine men's U-22 team as it almost entirely consists of local homegrown players with the entire team based in the Philippines. I guess the inaugural season of the Philippines Football League has played a big part in giving much needed professional experience to the local players, an advantage that other ASEAN nations has always enjoyed.

That's a lot of good news in Philippine soccer: Ceres, U22, and Neil Etheridge at Cardiff City.

It is early for the U22 team. They still have to face the big boys of SEA. Let us see if they can maintain that. But I agree, a lot of positive news for Philippine football lately on the field. The loss of TV coverage for the PFL though is a bit worrying. Hopefully they can iron out any issues they have during their inaugural season, and keep the league progressing.

As for Etheridge, the way things are going, we might see him in the Premiership soon, either through his club being promoted, or via transfer. I think he deserves to be at that level already.

Etheridge and Cardiff City wins again this time on the road against the previous 2nd ranked and preseason favorite in the Championship League Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C 2-1.

4 wins in 4 games to start the season for Cardiff City. Neil Etheridge has only given up only 1 goal in 4 games so far. Great work Neil.

Ceres Negros battles Tajik league side Istiklol FC in AFC Cup Inter Zone playoffs in Dushanbe

CERES Negros ventures into uncharted territory as it takes on Istiklol FC in the first leg of the AFC Cup Inter Zone Playoffs on Tuesday in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

The Busmen are coming off an emotional tie in the Zonal finals against Home United where they overcame a 1-2 result in Singapore by blanking the Defenders, 2-0, in Panaad.

Ceres is the first Philippine club to be crowned Asean champions.

But head Risto Vidakovic isn't satisfied at all.

"This is the first time maybe that one Filipino club reached this part of the competition. So it’s something historical what we did until now," said Vidakovic in the pre-match press conference.

"I think we cannot stop now so we have to keep going. we have to compete and if we reach the semifinals then I think it’s a big deal for us," he added.

Vidakovic says that he has witnessed how this club plays, but can't seem to size them up considering the limited exposure of their domestic league.

"We expect always tough games. We saw a lot of games from Istiklol but it’s not easy to know actually how strong they are because we dont know how strong is the league," he continued.

"But if they reach this part of competition I suppose that they are very strong. So we will do our best we try to play better than we can. We will try to reach a better result tomorrow."

The Philippine side will look to get a better result this time after losing away matches to JDT and Home United.

That's really good news for Etheridge. Talk is that Lee Camp, with more experience in the Championship would compete with him for the #1 spot. Camp is injured and Etheridge is doing so well that even if Camp recovers it would be difficult for him to take the #1 spot.

    Go Neil. Go Cardiff City.

If he continues in the same vein with his clean sheets, I doubt that Camp or any other reserve goaltenders would be able to supplant Neil. The nice thing about this is if Cardiff gets promoted, and Neil continues to perform well, I don't see any reason why he won't start in the Premiership next season as well. It is important that the club manager has faith in him and that seems to be the case from the very beginning as he was instrumental in bringing Etheridge to the club.

I wonder how Fulham feels about all this. They never game him a chance to start at the club and let him go when they got relegated from the Premiership. Now they are wallowing in the lower half of the Championship and see their former goalie perform well and start on a rival team that has a good chance of making it to the top tier next year.

AFC 1st leg on the road

    FT Istiqlol 4-0 Ceres

It is going to be very hard for Ceres FC to come back from a 4-0 deficit in their home leg.

5 games 5 wins FT 2-1 win today against QPR for Neil and Cardiff City to keep their place on top of the Championship standings.

Next up for Neil is playing for the Philippines in its Asian Cup qualifier against Yemen

The fan support should be great since they are scheduling it at Panaad Stadium, Ceres FC's home ground. I predict a sold out stadium this time around for the Azkals.

The following 23 players have been called up for the match with two new players in Tyler Matas and Harry Föll, and two players from the Philippines Under-22 team in Dylan De Bruycker and Joshua Grommen.

    List of players:

    ______

Apparently Schrock who is now playing with Ceres FC, has retired. Their main striker Patino is injured. Their starter at left back Sato, who is playing regularly in the Danish top tier, is also unavailable because of accumulated penalties. Palla who plays in Austria is his replacement at left back. Steuble has also not been called up. Only 4 players(Etheridge, Palla, Mike Ott and newcomer Foll) who play abroad has been called up. The rest play in the PFL of which DeBruckyer, Matas and Grommen will be first time call ups.

Matas is a FilAm who has played every minute for league leading Meralco Sparks in the PFL was PacWest Preseason Defender of the Year(in 2014 and 2015) while playing for Notre Dame de Namur University. He is a long throw specialist.

Here are some more info on some of the missing players.

Good news is that they are playing in Panaad, where Ceres FC plays, so they can be guaranteed of a sold out vocal fanbase supporting the team.
