I totally believe this. The league would much rather have an El Tri star in the Miami market than Philly to help Becks launch the club (like Vela for LAFC), but they realize they can get him now for cheap because his contract is about to expire, plus his MLS learning curve season will be behind him for when Miami kicks off. Sugarman likes it because he probably won't have to pay a transfer fee since it's essentially a loan from Miami. #ThatsSoUnion
I've seen tweets about Miami. I've seen news about a multiple year signing. Now I've seen a spanish website reporting that Fabian requested only 1-year to leave further options open. The rumor mill goes round and round. ETA - There are a huge number of Spanish speaking tweets that are lamenting the move to MLS as proof that Fabian's career never amounted to what it should have. In other words...no one rates our league, or our team very highly.
They should just swing a deal with the Galaxy for either Gio Dos Santos or Allesandrini. Work it out so that AEG pays a good chunk of the salary. They need to move a DP.
So you are saying that the Union could have a pre-arranged Kevin Kratz-Atlanta type of trade; however, Fabian would at least play for a season for the Union????
Bild in Germany also reporting it (and mentioning the Miami part...sigh) https://translate.googleusercontent...700248&usg=ALkJrhhiSZiGVYG5JDd0BCEGD6VDYnF0RQ
Curtin and Tanner are gushing about Kai. Sounds like they think they have the next Lahm. Hopefully not the next Porfirio Lopez.
Tanner really pumping up 3rd division Germany.... I get it, he's a kid with a lot of talent, but part of me is worried he may be underestimating MLS.... Here's the latest Marco Fabian report from Germany. Says he's cleaned out his locker at Eintracht and it mentions the possibility of Miami in 2020. https://t.co/FxOdxeR5iy— Joe Tansey (@JTansey90) February 7, 2019 I'm going to lose my shit if there is any ounce of truth to this Miami stuff...
Get ready then. Having him in Miami for LigaMX fans would be a huge coup (keeping in mind that in Miami the Germany-Mexico match in the 2018 World Cup drew a 10.2 rating - beating everything else in town). One season with the U to get acquainted with MLS, and then 100% full bore for him in Miami to lead them to winning the double in their first season.
Despite what you may read in @BILD the @PhilaUnion potentially have a “multi year” deal with Marco Fabian if certain things happen. So this narrative that @InterMiamiCF is “in play” for Fabian isn’t accurate. #MLS #Doop https://t.co/ytn2iRfVAh— Taylor Twellman (@TaylorTwellman) February 7, 2019
I hope Twellman is right. It certainly brings the odds more in favor of him being here long term. Honestly, with Twellman reporting it this it kinda makes it 60/40 that he’ll be staying.
Maybe Bild's source for the Miami wrinkle was the Union BigSoccer forum? Gutentag Bild! FYI, we have no idea what we are talking about on here...just ignore us!
Um. What happened to our preseason? Are we in the Suncoast Tournament or what? I only see Montreal on the Union website at this point.
Preseason? Pfft. We signed Santos, Kai, Fabian...we're ready. Go directly to MLS Cup Final...do not pass Go, do not collect $200.
If the Union was a Monopoly piece what would they be? The stupid iron or the stupid wheelbarrow? Probably the iron.
The iron was replaced in 2013, the wheelbarrow in 2016. Current pieces include: Rubber Duck T-Rex Penguin Dog Top Hat Car Cat Battleship Poll?
Cat - denotes the indifference to the hand that feeds it along with occasional hacking hairballs that are Union CATastrophies (see M'Bohli, Rais; Spanking Coaches; Shrimp Deck; players out of position etc...)
