Just not the EPL for FFS. But ya, Serie A, a tactical/technical league, nice step up in level of play. Would be a good move. Perry's biggest weakness is his reading of the game and discipline. Italy would help confront that.
What is the original source of the Kitchen-to-Lazio rumor? I'm trying to figure out where La MLS en Français got it from.
Serie A have flirted with non-international Americans who didn't have an EU passport before. They showed interest in Powers and Okugo. Ultimately nothing came of it. And I expect it not to happen here either. Outside of maybe a keeper like Hamid, they probably all consider themselves above taking non internationals from MLS which also cut into their non EU player limit. Maybe Powers latches on with a bargain basement deal now that he has an EU passport. But as a general rule they probably don't consider it a good use of their limited non EU spots. Italy are pushing that limit now. I think they're being more flexible in an attempt to close the gap with the top 3 that's been created in recent years. Last study I saw, they had the highest amount of non EU's per team at 3.2. So U.S./MLS and Italy/Serie A could have a symbiotic relationship in the upcoming years, especially with a football resource such as Marcotti tying the two together and who could probably create the right marriages in exchange for info. But I think the U.S. manager has to start playing his part. He did say he wanted players challenging themselves in the better leagues in Europe, but a high majority require him to do it. He could do it just by calling up the best players, for a change.
I think he's capable of playing in a better league. DC might set the record for least points in 2016 if they lose Kitchen and Hamid.
