Pele had never done what Diego did in a team like Napoli ...

Napoli was a small team in the most competitive league of that time ...
and Maradona led this team to the glory ... he was brillant ...

Nobody could do a thing like that ...

there were fantastic 4 years in Calcio ...
    1987 Napoli champion
    1988 Napoli 2nd place
    1989 Napoli 2nd place
    1990 Napoli champion

...so the best age of Maradona .... => ... the best age of Napoli ....

and what happened when Maradona had gone ?

everything became like was before ... Milan, Juventus, Roma ...

Selective memory. Oh yeah a "Brazilian" guy from a "crappy" (as you say) club in Brazil named Sao Paulo FC happened to be Napoli's top scorer in their Scudetto winning years. Does the name Antonio Careca ring a bell?

Lemme see here, Franz Beckenbauer played in Pele's era and no Italian defender is even remotely past or present was as great as he was.

Lemme see here Pele had "help" to win the WC in 1970, but Maradona never did? Flashback to WC 1982, wasn't Diego ADDED to a WC winning side with legends like Mario Kempes, Passarella and Filliol in Spain that proceeded to lose 3 times? Shouldn't a great star as you guys say be guaranteed to win if he's surrounded by talented players?

You must be kidding and baiting but Ill bite.

First the Brazilian League in the 60's and 70's were MUCH MUCH better than they are today because all the stars played in BRAZIL not Europe. So you may think that back then the Brazilian league was like today where all the stars play in Europe. THAT IS NOT THE CASE.

How many good players you ask? hahaha, more than in ANY European country! Get educated, Brazil had countless stars in the 60's and 70's playing right at home! Start with all the players in the 58, 62 and 70 World Cup teams! They all played at home. Besides them as usual there are 3 deep per position that could be on the national team.

Dont ever say such stupidity again.

That is exactly what I was going to say! What about Careca? Would Napoli be the same without him?

    FALSE.

    Seasons where Napoli was champion:

1986/87 Maradona scored 10 goals and Careca did not play in Napoli this season (he was in Sao Paulo)
1989/90 Maradona scored 16 goals and Careca scored 10 goals

So ... stop lying man ...

    To be sure see:

    Careca statistics

    Maradona statistics

i can understand argies having a fixation with maracoca, but the loyalty neapolitans have towards the man is frightening.maybe because he briefly brought them out of obscurity and into the spotlight for a few years. did you know that a lot of the neapolitan supporters actually cheered for Argentina rather than Italy when they played each other in the 1990 WC semifinal?

thats got to be the stupidest thing ive ever heard. and coming from you thats quite something! napoli with maradona won 2 scudettos and thats it mate. juventus and ac milan doubled that amount of scudettos each in the 90s alone. and napoli didnt do anything of great significance in european play either. hardly the greatest side ever.

Italians know what Diego is ...
Drugs / Corruption / Stupidity and other things are irrelevant ...
Because Diego was both: an artist and a sportmen so you should be more comprensive with Diego ...

Do you believe classical musicians were not good because they were drinkers ... ?

The cocaine does not make you to have a better performance in sports ...

    Diego was a genius ...

Just when i thought i coulden't get any dumber.

napoli didnt do anything of great significance in european play ?????????

Napoli won the UEFA cup in 1989.

In quarter finals they won over Juventus 0-2 3-0
In semi finals they won over Bayern Munich 2-0 2-2
In finals over Stugart 2-1 3-3

Napoli had a good performance in champions league 1990-1991, they did not lose any match and they did not suffer any goal ... they were defeated by penalties vs Spartak Moskow, then Spartak won over Real Madrid ...
