How can they be in the Open Cup? This is their first year. Not every PDL team gets into the Open Cup. 16 teams did in 2012 and 2013, based on the previous season's results. If they do what they have done, and take the top four (American) teams from each of the four PDL conferences, it should be Real Colorado, Michigan, Des Moines, Chicago, Ocean City, Carolina, Baltimore, Reading, Austin, Ocala, Panama City Beach, Laredo, Fresno, Portland, Ventura County and LA representing the PDL. Last year they didn't announce it until March 5. If they've announced a new format for 2014, I haven't seen it.
So you're saying that they cannot qualify for this years Open Cup, but next years? I dont know the exact qualification process for PDL teams, but I know its possible, look at Portland's u23's.
Look at Portland's U23's what? Portland earned one of the 16 PDL berths last year because in 2012 USL started determining its 16 entrants on the basis of the previous year's performance. (Strange, given the roster turnover from year to year in the PDL, but it is what it is.) San Jose could - if they keep that format - do well enough in 2014 to quality for the 2015 Open Cup. (That is, if they don't change the format again - it hasn't been announced officially yet for 2014.) In the past, teams were chosen for the Open Cup based on their early-season performance, either in league matches or (back in the day) standalone qualifying matches against other PDL teams. The process by which lower-level teams qualify for the tournament proper has changed quite a bit over the years. But if the recent tradition holds, no, the PDL Quakes will not be in the 2014 Open Cup tournament.

So I guess Charlotte will gain a PDL team next year... http://www.charlotteobserver.com/20...group-taking-over-charlotte.html#.UteElvRDtug
Uh, no. This is in South Florida, over on the other side of the state and down. Floridians FC will not be playing in Tampa. The dateline says "TAMPA" because that's where USL is based and where all of its releases come from.
I'll admit that beyond the basic knowledge of the Eagles Christian connection I'm not clear on what their "ministry" entails. Is it confined to the field and charity work the players do or does it extend to actually proselytizing in the crowd, etc...?
More through camps and other programs than having a sermon at halftime, I believe. They're a part of Missionary Athletes International. And they are, by their own admission, more about finding "Christians who play soccer" than "soccer players who are Christians." Ken, pretty much described the PDL process for qualifying. There is one end around to this. A club can also qualifying by entering the USASA entry tournament. I think Des Moines use this path and I seem to remember at least another club to get into the Open Cup

Yes, I didn't see anything mentioned above, so I thought I'd add it. George spent most of his coaching career in Orlando, FL, but I don't think he was involved in the PDL until coming to SC United.
it wasn't exactly mentioned above...but it was definitely previously mentioned...lol http://forums.bigsoccer.com/threads/general-pdl.1944004/page-12#post-30053519

I guess I was alluding to the 2015 part. Guess OKCFC aren't the ONLY ones who keep saying "Stay tuned!" "Big news coming!" "Watch for a press release NEXT month!"
