Sweden will not be an easy task for Mexico.. and they will struggle to break this team down.

Realistically though.. I do not see Germany loosing to Korea, therefore, for Sweden, they absolutely need 3 points and will be forced to press forward at some point in the game leaving them exposed at the back.

I have not seen to much going forward from Sweden, even from their most skilled players such as Forsberg, he lacks a lot and often loses the ball.. for their most technical player, i havent been impressed at all.

As a unit, they defend well and work very hard for each other.

    My prediction:
    Mexico 1-1 Sweden

Mexico will go through with 7 points and Sweden will be forced to rely on the result of the other match.

One has to wonder whether that swedish height advantage & Forsberg's deliveries might not lead to some Swedish goals being scored through the air if the Mexicans are reckless enough to give up many corners or set pieces in dangerous areas.

Mexico shouldn't have too much of an issue but I am sure they'll go for a win to secure themselves as leaders of the group.

That being said, what surprises can Sweden actually do?

This one is very tricky for Mexico. After the final whistle against South Korea the players celebrated as if they already sealed progress to the Round of 16. But the reality is that they need to survive these 90 minutes against desperate Swedes. Psychologically speaking I see Sweden in a better position. I feel Sweden might edge this 1-0. With Germany beating also South Korea Mexico could miss out on the Round of 16 with 6 points.

I'm sorry, may I ask the Moderators/Admin, I'm new here so it might just be me not able to find the forum under Europe section, but I don't see a sub-board for Sweden? I did click under More Europe.. section but still don't see Sweden listed under there.

There isn't a separate Sweden forum. There is a Scandinavia forum with a few Swedish-centered threads (see the link), but no one has posted on them in months..

I disagree that Sweden is in a better position, mentally speaking. The Swedes know that a Korean upset is unlikely and thus this game is a must win for them.

The fact that Sweden has to win likely means that they will have to open up and be more offensive which plays into Mexicos fast attacking style. That said if Sweden scores an early goal then that could very well turn the tables on Mexico

I’m not as worried about the individual talent on the Swedish side but I am worried about their counterattacking tactics. They need a victory but I wouldn’t be surprised if they drop back and play a bit more defensively looking for the counter at least for the first half.

I love Osorio but I still think he can screw this up somehow.
Sweden is tactically good and will probably come out wanting to impose their height and physicality.
I am really going to enjoy this one. I can feel it.

I still don't trust Mexico. Sweden has proven to have the right mentality when crunch time arrives. Look at their qualfying. Beating France 2-1 when they needed it, advancing against Italy in the playoffs. I said always Germany and Sweden will get out of this group. I still stick to that. Mexico will bottle it.

I don't think Ochoa will hand the game to the Swedes like Lloris did but we shall see.

Agree 100%. Sweden usually loves to play against teams like Mexico when THEY have to win. Not so much when we have to.

I predict a decent try but Mexico will probably score twice today. 2-0 or 2-1 maybe.

Sweden just made Mexico look amateur on that set piece. Mexico’s gonna have a terrible night if we give those plays always.
