VAR could have called him as well. It was a clear penalty and a red as Boating was the last man.

Neymar's flop in the box was reviewed by VAR but this wasn't. Very suspect.

I’m not heavy handed at all. I’m a new mod and I’m asked to keep the World Cup threads specifically on topic, and not only was that side conversation useless but it was feeding an obvious troll. I didn’t hand out any actual warnings for it.

Fair enough, but you can see how it is a big talking point to this match and that people are frustrated.

Yes I can see it and it’s allowed. It was only the “noncall doesn’t matter because Sweden went up first anyway” metatheory stuff that I asked to be set aside. You had 2-3 guys going around in circles for a page and a half, one of them just trying to see what he could possibly bait. Really the only conversations that are censored are those that derail the thread a bit too much and I used my judgment to just mark that as such.

I love most Germans and Germany but I absolutely detest their football team and especially this Tussi Coach.

A bit long? It was only 87 minutes late, that's nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Nonsense, if Draxler doesn't start how are we to ensure that we waste every chance we get in the first half of the match?

FFS. All such incidents are reviewed by the VAR. they’re basically watching the feed real time and literally review the entire match. They only refer it to the center refs if they fell there is a clear and obvious error. Neither the center ref nor the VAR team thought this was a clear and obvious PK. (Though I think it should have been given I think).

Learn how the bloody system works

And frankly, if this had been Neymar subject to this same tackle you’d all be whining about what a diver he is and how light the contact was!

I wondered about that seeing the action live. However there is nothing in this photo to justify your belief.

Wow, that was more like the real German Machine - play always till the end, until the ref blows the final whistle, even with 10 players. Great goal from Kroos, just as I predicted... Germany showed spirit and determination, as we would expect from them. Most likely, this win will give them confidence and will put arguments aside at least for WC time. Now I expect an easy win over Korea.

To be honest, though, I feel bad for Sweden as they showed determination and defended and countered well. I have no clue why would the game be extended by 5 minutes, this was too long... Like 3 minutes would have been sufficient, Sweden was not doing any time wasting. Also, we do not know how this could have ended, if they got a penalty, and Boateng would have gotten two yellows in the first half... Marciniak always has to be controversial, but I am surprised VAR team felt it was not a penalty...

Now, Sweden is not out yet! Another group, where the last game promises to be super exciting! Mexico are favorites, but they cannot relax just yet.

S Arabia is out, last place
    S Korea will be too
Iran and Australia have must win games. I can see both of them failing that

Not saying that we could consider them favourites, but as how things are currently in this group, South Korea still has chances to go through :

If they happen to beat Germany, while at the same time, Mexico beats Sweden, there would be a 3 team tie for second place, all with 3 points.

They’ll throw the last game to avoid Germany if they have to.
