We split with LA. One of the LA's was better then the other. One of our goalkeepers is better than the others. I forget, does the Crew score a goal by getting the ball into that box with the net on it?
Typical front running Nordecke bullshit. I wasn't going to comment here but I can't help it: you guys are just wrong. One of the most moving moments of my soccer lifetime was at the 2012 Euros when, late in the game with Spain - the best team in the world, maybe the best team of all time - kicking shit out of Ireland 4 - 0 in a match that wasn't nearly that close, the fans told the team they were with them and they loved them. If you can watch this without feeling anything, then you have a problem. (Note that this is not a break-out video, it's the network feed. The announcers didn't speak for over five minutes.) The Crew are my team, I love those boys win or lose and if someone has a problem with telling them so, even after we lose - hell, ESPECIALLY when we lose - then I humbly suggest you go f*ck yourself.
I think it is more about the timing than anything else. Sure being blown out 0-4, of course noone would have an issue with singing. It is the fact that we are singing a slow praise at the 85th minute when we are down 1 or tied and need that intensity. I am all for singing it at the final whistle. I think it would be beautiful if everyone stuck around and serenaded the players as the greet the Noredecke and walk off the pitch, win or lose.
That might be the viable option. I missed singing it. Gut punch. Sue me, @captaincbus. I am prepared.
I may be wrong but wasn't it the management who decided that the 85th minute was the assigned time? If I am, OK, but ISTM that this is what you get when the suits get involved in supporters affairs. It is always a bad idea, even if it provides lots of opportunities for that Morgan Chick and Keith Naas to pose for selfies with Doc Edwards. If the timing is the issue, I agree 100%. If it's a gut punch you're looking for, go find Dropkick Murphy's version of Fields of Antherny. They sound a bit more......angry.
Better team won, no doubt about it. I guess one positive is that we don't have to play them for the rest of the season. That was a pretty poor performance from the Crew, and yet we were still in it with a chance to steal something up through the 86th minute. Sure, that may be more due to LAFC's inability to put us away, but still, we stayed in it, really looked like we were going to score heading towards the end, and we're done with LA for the season. It was great to see the crowd there, and I was pleasantly surprised to speak to a number of first-timers who had a good time despite the result. The experience on the field may not have been ideal, but the experience in the stands was still a positive one.
I have not seen a replay of the 86th minute offsides call on Santos. Porter was livid and screamed at the AR for a solid 30 seconds it seemed. Was there a replay on TV? Nothing was shown in the stadium.
If by "always" you mean since the mid 1990's then I agree. I realize that for the likes of you the world began the day Miley Cyrus was born but it may shock you to learn that it's a bit older than that. Don't screw with me, junior.
Rather than quote all of posts: I have no problem with singing Wise Men as an expression of our love, but I'm firmly in the "Sing it after the match" camp. Also - I fully admit that I may be getting my Wednesday/Saturday match mixed up. And for that, I apologize.
Sing it after the match when the result is a loss. I like. Great idea, Bigsoccer. The obligatory “today sucked, but I still love you” marital confirmation before one falls asleep.
This sentiment is similar to why I hate, and will not participate in, Shit On The Bastards Below when we are playing a team above us in the standings. Usually this is also best saved for when we are losing to an team below us in the table. Also great while winning!
As with most things in life, timing is everything. Put the chants in context to the match at hand. You know, maybe the players will think you are watching.
