Vs Key matchup, get ready. Also: Hi everyone, First of all, welcome to the new posters joining us! You might have recently created an account just to get in on the World Cup excitement, or you may have already been lurking around BigSoccer and decided to finally get involved in all the banter. Either way, welcome! A general bit of advice for you, as well as a reminder for our longtime posters: we're all here for the football. With that in mind, we here are taking a zero-tolerance policy towards expressions of racism, sexism, discrimination based on sexual orientation, xenophobia, ad hominem attacks, insults (towards a group of people, countries, or fellow posters) and trolling. Infractions will get you booked - and if you ask where was your warning, this is it. If you see a fellow poster insulting you or a part of your identity (race, sex, nationality, etc.)? Don't respond in kind - REPORT IT. It is the fastest way for us mods to handle the offending posts. So, with that said, good luck to both sides, and let's enjoy!
Both teams could play for a draw. Swiss would back themselves against Costa Rica and Serbia could shut out Brazil and all would be tied on points.
Switzerland is perhaps the most underrated national team in world soccer. I suspect fans never forgave them that match vs. Ukraine in the R16 of 2006 (strong candidate to the "most boring World Cup game ever" title), but the Swiss are a tough nut to crack and have a very good counter. So I'm giving them the edge. 1-0 or 2-1 to the rossocrociati.
We've seen headers like that squandered so often - it's almost shocking when we see an attacker convert.
The Swiss are not used to going down early. We'll see their mettle today. I know they can be patient otherwise.
Well, we're just not seeing many crosses this go round. True crosses, driven in between the 6 yard box and the penalty spot. I almost wished that Spain would move Ramos into the Saudi box and try some crosses. Wasn't going to happen but I got tired of Spain trying to pass through a 6 man back line.
Very open game, surely more goals to come. Serbia not looking to sit back and defend the lead. Good match.
