    Hi everyone,

First of all, welcome to the new posters joining us! You might have recently created an account just to get in on the World Cup excitement, or you may have already been lurking around BigSoccer and decided to finally get involved in all the banter. Either way, welcome!

A general bit of advice for you, as well as a reminder for our longtime posters: we're all here for the football. With that in mind, we here are taking a zero-tolerance policy towards expressions of racism, sexism, discrimination based on sexual orientation, xenophobia, ad hominem attacks, insults (towards a group of people, countries, or fellow posters) and trolling. Infractions will get you booked - and if you ask where was your warning, this is it. If you see a fellow poster insulting you or a part of your identity (race, sex, nationality, etc.)? Don't respond in kind - REPORT IT. It is the fastest way for us mods to handle the offending posts.

So, with that said, good luck to both sides, and let's enjoy!

It's time for Argentinians to wake up on this Mondial so I am expecting them to push hard for this win and reach the 1/8

    betting predictions
    Build bet :
    Messi to score
Argentina to take 2 or more corners in the first half
2 or more cards for Nigeria
    Nigeria over 6 fouls committed
    Argentina to win
    Good luck

It just seems to me a little biased to have Italian and Polish referees in charge of VAR. Argentina has both a significant Italian and Polish population. Just saying.

The Turkish ref is also an admitted Messi fan. I really hope for no nonsense after the farce of yesterday.

Not sure how does a referee profess admiration for a player, and manages to keep his job. Are you sure is not a tabloid rumor?

And yes, Turkish ref team for this match.

Sampaoli better take off that jacket from minute 1. Fewer things are more disturbing than a tattooed medium-sized robot walking on the sideline.

    Medium-sized? Sampa is 5'5"!

Even if Argentina goes through, it'd be just postponing the inevitable by a game. I have no faith they can structure a central midfield and CB pair good enough to stop France.

    :(

    Just need some luck.

Feel sad watching the game that will come of these results: France
Vs 2D. It’s kind of hard to argue what’s gonna happen there watching Mbappe cut teams apart. But hopeful you never really know what will happen in soccer

The track record of Nigeria France, Nigeria Argentina is :(

Never been so nervous before a game. But I'll be fine. At least I've never had hbp.

I like to think they will do their job well.

Although I just closed out the Guardian PBP after the writer admitted he is rooting for Argies. I commend his honesty but I don't need the extra stress and doubt.

Yeah, the Croatian squad really outclassed their rivals. No doubt there.

Hopefully, Croatia will keep advancing more. I greatly underestimated them.

    Game about to start.

You've got to admit, Argentina have a rousing national anthem. A lot better than our dirge.

Comparing the Argentinian language to other languages they found it to be the closest thing to Italian.

Messi Otamendi sounds / are very Italian ;) dunno why FIFA doesn’t consider these things. They couldn’t get an all Asian ref team? I guess that would be racism, but would give a better appearance of fair play.

Then again you really can’t get away from Spanish, Italian, and German heritage which would cancel out refs from North, South America and Europe

I think the difference so far has been Argentina have taken better touches.

The Argentinian manager looks like a balder Danny De Vito.
