This game is all but over just 30mins in: Real get a Pk and Ronaldo converts to make it 3-0. Real appear to scoring just about everytime they put Sevilla on the back foot. Vazquez for Kroos for Real's 4th. What issues at Real? This is vintage stuff and perhaps their best game so far this season. 5-0 now. Achraf.
So, Pulisic is one of Dortmund's best players these days. Earlier he brought a ball down from the heavens with a touch that would have made Berbatov blush. He'll be off to a big team in the summer.
Still my preference for a right sided attacker for next summer. He may not have the flash of others, but he's an accomplished, very talented (and versatile) footballer in his own right. And he's got the type of mentality we want as well. Won't be cheap (around 60mil, I imagine) but would likely end up being well worth it, both on and off the pitch.
Talent aside, Pulisic is a home run for any English team due to his merch sales in the US alone. He would instantly because the most marketable and biggest name in US soccer if he were to go to any of the PL big teams.
Any top club in Europe looking to make even more inroads in the States would be interested in him from a marketing point of view. The fact that he can actually play, makes him all the more valuable. Bayern are said to be interested, of course. And with Robben coming close to the end, he'd slot right in. Would be surprised if he didn't make a move this coming summer.
Serie A is finally worth watching again after years of being a one horse race. Good to see. I missed the old days of Milan vs Inter vs Juve.
About time indeed. Just sucks that (AC) Milan can't get it together and join the party. Pretty ironic also that Serie A could be the only league (of the top European ones) that is really up for grabs at the turn of the year.
We've seen it before with City, Chelsea, PSG, etc. If they keep spending it's only a matter of time. Especially in a league with very few big spending teams.
Therein lies the problem though (as to whether they'll be able to keep on spending), because it was done for the purpose of reaching the CL next season. Putting aside whether they still can or not, not being able to count on that revenue could be a problem FFP wise and they may have to sell some players next summer to balance the books. We'll see, but I hope they can get a good coach to sort things out (like Dortmund, there is plenty of talent there, meaning the guys at the helm are the problem). Just painful to see what's going on atm because so far as Italian teams go, they've always been my favorite.
Handanovic have been the uncontested MotM for Inter so far: they can thank him for not being behind in this game.
FFP is a bad joke. Until they start handing out European competition bans, they'll be ignored or sidestepped. Their slap on the wrist fines aren't going to stop anyone. As long as the Milan owners don't abandon their spending and expect immediate titles like Monaco and Malaga did then they'll be competiting in a few years. They're already targeting the right types of players. Young with potential but not the elite ones in which they'd have to fight the real big money teams. Keep that up and they'll be fine. What they should do is take note from Bayern and buy all their rivals stars (other than teams that can afford to say no, like Juve and Napoli). The money in that league is so skewed toward the top teams that using that tactic would work wonders.
Following the Bayern model is not that easy in Italy, because of the fact that there is more competition in Italy, than in Germany where no one (financially at least) can challenge Bayern. Same thing in France where one club towers above the rest. Yes, there is disparity between the top and middle/bottom placed clubs, but Milan are still one of 3 to 4 (maybe) 5 clubs with means in that league. I do like how the club spent in the summer as well and in conjunction with their homegrown talent, they definitely are on the right path, provided they can keep them mostly together in the next few seasons. As mentioned though, if there is no one of quality to lead them, it's almost all for naught. Don't think that Gattuso is going to be the answer and for me, I hope they can bring in Ancelotti by next summer. As a former player and manager, it would be perfect to bring someone of that caliber back to club and take them back to glory.
This is nasty. pic.twitter.com/uZopO06vSG— scuffed (@scuffedpod) December 9, 2017 This guy Wes ain't bad either.
There are four clubs with a huge financial gap between the rest of the league. That still means there are 16 other teams to pick clean of talent. Don't overthink it.
That's not the point. The fact of the matter is: both situations are not the same and are not comparable. Then you can claim that United can follow the Bayern model as well, eventhough there are at least 4-5 teams with similar resources, but still 15 other teams for them to pick players from. There's nothing to 'overthink': the situations are just not the same...
BREAKING: Borussia Dortmund sack head coach Peter Bosz, and replace him with Peter Stoger pic.twitter.com/9UvH4U0cRP— B/R Football (@brfootball) December 10, 2017
Of course, Soton had their chances to put the game away, yet did not and Giroud comes on and gets the equalizer at the 88th min...
Draw or lose this one, Arsenal are out of the prem trophy hunt. It's all about the top four for le arse now, which is definitely doable but Liverpool probably edges them out in the end.
Interesting personel choices on both sides for the Merseyside Derby. No Coutinho or Firmino for Pool. Ox and Solanke are starting. For Everton, a different back 4: Holgate starting at CB next to Williams. Rooney is playing deeper in a mid 3. Should be a pretty interesting game.
17 – No player has scored more substitute goals for a single Premier League team than Olivier Giroud – level with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Man Utd (17). Trademark.— OptaJoe (@OptaJoe) December 10, 2017
