The playoffs start now, as a loss in Chicago would virtually eliminate the Revs from post-season play. Revs only have 2 road wins all year. Both were in Canada (@VAN, @MON). Fortunately, Chicago is a train wreck. http://matchcenter.mlssoccer.com/ma...hicago-fire-vs-new-england-revolution/preview All Eastern Conference games start at 3pm Sunday. Wins by PHI (vs ORL), DCU (vs NYC) and MON (vs TOR) would eliminate the Revs as well. All 3 are playing at home Sunday.
CHI hosts CMB Thursday night, so they will be playing on two days rest, while the Revs will have had 14 days off between games.
This has sure been a painful season. Would I like to just fold things up and indulge in a dose of "Wait till next year"? I guess anyone whose been a Rev fan since 96 is familiar with the feeling and the choice. Well Lucy, I will take another swing at the football. GO REVS Revs 2-0
Hopefully, with a full 2 weeks off, Goncalves and Watson will both be available - not to mention Rowe back up to full strength.
Agree with Watson and Goncalves being important, however - can't believe I'm saying this - Rowe may be even more important than either of those guys. He has been a large part of the revs' most recent success in the 4-4-2 diamond. His health and continued good performance are the biggest key to the revs' playoff chances in the next 2 games IMO. I hope he plays and plays well.
Say what one will about Rowe's faults, he's the one guy on the team who come out of nowhere and make a loss into a win. Kei, Daigo, Lee, et al can get hot, but only Kelyn seems to be able to explode without any warning. Frustrating as his play can be, it's been crucial to giving the Revs' a chance.
Maybe one of the Revs fans with artistic skills could do up something like the prow of a ship with the Revs flag as the sail and Rowe's head as the figurehead. All aboard the Roweboat.

Game day. Will we win and live to fight another day or will this season mercifully be put out of it's misery?
I hope the latter, doc. Enough with this mirage - time to get serious about winning and make changes in the FO.
But that's the problem. Changes are not going to happen, win or lose. Life goes on, obla-di, obla-da. Remember kids, we almost made the playoffs, and were in the hunt right up to the end to be the 6th best team out of 10. If a couple of unlucky bounces had gone our way, we're in! We played really well in September too!
..and and and.... we are US Open Cup Championship Finalist! That is all the sound bite that is needed for the marketing campaigns. Nothing likely to change, as it is all "good enough" on the field, and meanwhile apparently "very good" on the balance sheet. The Revs are at their desired equilibrium point. But - I am entirely OK with being surprised if Revs act in a manner contrary to their comfort zone, and actually make significant moves to try to raise their target equilibrium point such that on-field competitiveness markedly improves.
To not win against a team that's already eliminated, having a man advantage for a chunk of the game shows where this team is at. Rip 2016 season,
Sad. An absolutely must win game against a weak team and they lose. That says it all Good bye Heaps. Hopeful;;y good bye Burns as well but I doubt he will get the sack. This roster seriously underperformed across the year. We were worse than the sum of the parts. Thats a coaching failure. Heaps MUST go.
There is no doubt in my mind that the Krafts are addicted to winning. I doubt this flame out season will go un noticed. The only question I have does a skilled Football owner have the smarts to make the right decisions as a Soccer team owner? The evidence so far suggests not. I don't question his intention like so many on here do but I do question his execution. He has a FO that knows how to fill seats but he needs to get someone in place that knows how to build a winning soccer franchise.
