http://matchcenter.mlssoccer.com/ma...and-revolution-vs-minnesota-united-fc/preview De-facto home opener. The return of Bobby Shuttleworth. Due to the FIFA dates, one of only 3 MLS matches this weekend. A chance to make up that game-in-hand we got from the ORL postponement.
Should they lose the questions that need to be answered by Burns and Bilello are: 1. How long until Heaps is fired? 2. as far as wait and see, how much longer are we waiting?
If Game 3 of a season can ever be a must win I think this is it. Problem is MUFC is also probably thinking the same. You know Bobby will probably step up his game for this one
Battle of the Basement! 0-2-1 vs 0-2-0! From the highlights of the first three weeks, Minnesota honestly doesn't look good at anything. It'll be a huge disappointment if we don't win by multiple goals.
I predict Minny wil bunker the hell out of us, Heaps will not be able to figure out how to break it down and it will be a frustrating 0-0 draw. And after the game Brad will gush how the Revs are undefeated at home in 2017!
New England Revolution v Minnesota United Gillette Stadium (2:00pm ET) REF: RICARDO SALAZAR AR1: Oscar Mitchell-Carvalho AR2: Claudiu Badea 4TH: Robert Sibiga
Not sure how well Minnesota can bunker. The first goal they gave up against Colorado was a backpass from their defender. The 2nd goal, they had seven in the box (Colorado had 3, two of whom were wide open). Their 2nd goal they gave up against Portland, they had six in the box (Portland had 3). They had seven in the box for the last goal by Atlanta. Plus they've been bad on set pieces. I'll be very disappointed if we don't score three.
Burns and Heaps both need to go if the losing continues. But it depresses me thinking about it, because I don't think ownership cares enough to clean house from the top down. What they really need to do is bring in someone from one of the top MLS clubs that can have free reign to change the culture of the club. Bilello can stay. I don't think he actually deals with player issues. His job seems to be taking pictures of bacon, and giving out field passes.
The prospect of Heaps and Burns being let go is exciting until you realize that the same ownership selection criteria that led to those two is going to apply to the next selection ...
Answers: 1) Until we can find someone that will work for less 2) FOREVER If we can't beat this team, at home, who will we beat? There is more pressure this week then in the first two games
This game HAS to be 3 points. You're at home, Minnesota is terrible, especially on defense. The revs have a strong record in home openers. Agudelo and Nguyen are here, not with the NT so that's a plus. It's as close to a must win as you can get in March. Just can't wait to hear what excuses Feldman will come up with if it isn't a convincing multi-goal, morale-boosting win.
Record under Heaps in home openers... 2012: Portland 1-0 2013: SKC 0-0 2014: Vancouver 0-0 2015: Montreal 0-0 2016: DC 0-0 Yipes. Thanks to the success of Lowell hockey, I've missed most of these games (as I will this weekend). I've also caught a couple and then head to split prior to the post-game tailgate. Haven't missed much during opening weekends obviously, outside of seeing friends again.
We seem to have a problem scoring goals and I blame Heaps position tweaking. Anything less than 3 points with several goals scored will be a fail IMO. Fail here and I think Heaps has to go
I like that one of the Twitter KADs have already begun lowering their expectations for this weekend. This way they can still complain about people complaining if we lose. This is from someone that will find any excuse to talk about anything he construes as negative from the Revs fan base.
Off-season was a disaster in terms of signings No wide players and players that have stagnated in Rowe and Diego. Was going to go this week to match live but Given the poor form and the lousy weather I think I'll pass
Can't disagree with you about the off-season and form but lousy weather? Really? At game time it's expected to be 45 degrees with a few passing showers possible in the second half. Bring a rain coat. That is solid weather for this time of year. If you expected sunny and 75 in March, you live in the wrong region.
For what it's worth, I had a dream that we lost 3-0. But I suspect that says more about my own psyche than it does about the Revolution's likeliness of success....
