I'll watch this game with blind hope. But I don't see any evidence to expect we will be better. I keep thinking our players aren't this bad, but the overall lack of cohesion just makes me think there is nothing to build on as it is. What does the FO see out there that makes them think- this will turn around... a few more weeks and it will come together?
Man, I actually had a dream of the game last night and Chicago had both Marcelo and Juni! They played the way we remember them when they were at their best.
This captures it exactly. It's why I go to the games out of habit but with no real optimism that things are going in a positive direction. When does that summer transfer window open? Not soon enough.
Does it matter given the people making decisions? I’d hate to saddle ourselves with an(other) expensive import knowing Curt will be lucky to make it to next season and surely won’t be here this time next year.
Our primary transfer window is still open for another week; it runs from February 14th until May 8th. The secondary transfer window opens July 10th and closes August 9th.
As some of you whom I have met a games know, I wear a pre-Herbalstuff Gold jersey with a diagonal stripe and the old Wankle Rotary Engine patch. So, when I saw that was the design for the "throw back" jersey, it made me feel even older. I am afraid someone is going to throw me back one of these days.
Thanks. Although it really was meant as a rhetorical question. But I do appreciate the 7/10 date, which I will calendar.
Remember the picture of "unknown fan"? Well here's something pretty close: New pitch? 🔥🔥🔥🔥 pic.twitter.com/RhvDKDPgBJ— Chicago Cubs (@Cubs) May 3, 2017
Can't wait to play against a midfield of Bastian-Dax-Juninho. If you thought our midfield was struggling before, just wait until they come against some of the leagues best.
Onalfo seems to be suggesting that LA will be continuing with the 3 CM lineup to match up with the rest of the MLS teams "Almost every team in the league plays with an extra midfielder," said Onalfo. "It's still 11 vs. 11, and it's about how you move. I think [the formation change] simplified things for us a bit, just to clog the middle and make sure we're not being outnumbered all the time." With Zardes back it will be interesting to see how he manages that feat. God forbid he stupidly decides to drop Boateng! The article outlines the same issues that have been listed on this forum. http://www.espnfc.us/major-league-s...s-santos-issues-as-la-galaxy-lack-fear-factor
Someone has to sit so because Onalfo thought he was hiring Jones as a CM and not a CAM. It was an exercise that failed to result in a single goal against one of shittiest teams in the league, so why not build on it?
In theory, he's not saying it's necessary because Jones is positionally undisciplined, but because the opponents are overloading the midfield. So, it's possible he could pair Jones and Pedro (or Husidic), play Gio as the attacking midfielder, and put Zardes up top.
I agree. I think that Curt has a very tough choice to make: Drop one of {Jones, Husidic, Pedro} play Gio as a CAM beneath Zardes in a 4--2-3-1 and get overran in the midfield. Drop Boateng and play the same lineup as the one vs the Union and lose your best attacker. I would lean towards dropping Pedro, keeping Jones back in almost a double #6 set with Baggio and try to play on the counter.
