Kamara called in to the Norwegian National Team … losing loads of players to national teams was annoying when making the playoffs was a given and even in a bad year a run to MLS Cup Final was always a possibility. These days it feels like gallows humor – how can we have that many players absent for national team duty while being an average MLS side?
If Pontius and Pedro still aren't ready, we may not be able to dress 18 even if we put all three goalkeepers and 15 year-old Efrain Alvarez on the bench. Of course, Sylvestre might be fun as a target forward. He's a very large man. Even without moving, he can wall off a defender.
Just to make sure I have this right, we're looking at something like: Call ups: Kamara, Klimenta Injury: BJIV, Alessandrini, Gio, Jona, Ciani, Pontius (maybe), Pedro (maybe) Suspension: Cole Assuming both Pontius and Pedro are unable to play, we're looking something like: -------------------Lassiter---------------------- Boateng-----------------------------Lletget-- --------------Husidic----Carrasco----------- --------------------Kitchen--------------------- Romney---Skjelvik---Steres---Feltscher -------------------Bingham-------------------- Bench: Sylvestre, Vom Steeg, Hilliard-Arce, Arellano, Alvarez That central midfield has basically no ability going forward. Just for the sake of balance, I'd prefer to give a start to Efrain Alvarez in place of Carrasco. Otherwise we're getting basically nothing going in the midfield. We can bring up players from G2 on short term contracts, though. Bringing up Zubak or Dhillon makes sense, given we have no forward options on the bench. Probably one of the midfielders as well.
Given the comical number of absences and Vancouver’s crap field, I’ll take the seemingly inevitable L and give Alessandrini an extra week of rehab.

Perry Kitchen (MCL) and Chris Pontius are expected to be in full training tomorrow ahead of the Vancouver game— Adam Serrano (@AdamSerrano) March 20, 2018 Good news!
I say we pack it in and play for a scoreless tie. It might be ugly, but getting out with a tie is respectable under the circumstances. Winning is probably beyond the squad we have; tying is not.
Doesn't sound like Efrain Alvarez will be making the trip to Vancouver, which probably means we either have enough healthy bodies to fill the bench or we would rather borrow an older GII player than rely upon him at this stage: LA Galaxy @LAGalaxy 2m2 minutes ago .@efrain_alvarez1 & the @LAGalaxyAcademy U-17 team to face off against the world's top academies this week
Zlatan officially parts ways with Man U. And yes, that's actual footage. Great things also come to an end and it is time to move on after two fantastic seasons with Manchester United. Thank you to the club, the fans, the team, the coach, the staff and everybody who shared with me this part of my history. #foreverred pic.twitter.com/vo1Gs3SUHL— Zlatan Ibrahimović (@Ibra_official) March 22, 2018
Half the team is hurt or gone. Know which battles you can go for the win. The next match is against the downtown boys. That is an all out match to welcome the new team properly and set the tone. This week we need to park the bus and go for the point.
I say we play the kids and give them serious game time. This game is a throw away and with MLS's silly playoff system we can afford to throw games away. We need everyone healthy and ready for LAFC. LAFC vs Galaxy can be THE game all of MLS wants to see every season.
Maybe Lassiter? Maybe Hilliard-Arce? But that's about it. Watch any G2 game and you can't help but see that almost all of them are nowhere near ready for the bigs.
I agree that LAFC is a much bigger focus and that we should be cautious with our players health. But I disagree 100% that we can afford to "throw games away." This team may struggle to make the playoffs and if so every point counts.
I just found out that the Galaxy and Lakers game's overlap. The Lakers have priority of Spectrum Sports so according to the LA Times the Galaxy game will be delayed on the regular channel to 9:00. However, for those of you who get it, the game will be live at 7:00pm on the Spectrum Community Channel. In Torrance that is channel 84. For those of you not on Spectrum Cable, please do your own research as to when the game will be on.
