Nice corner by Aigner, with Sjoberg's header saved by Gonzalez. Contrary to the announcers, Gonzalez saved the shot, and then it pinged off the post.
31' YC to Atiba Harris for a phantom foul on Aigner, who took a spectacular dive. YC then called back, and a drop ball to restart play. Very weird.
I'm pretty sure Aigner told the ref he went down on his own, and the the 4th ref confirmed that, at which point the card was waved off.
FT, 1-1. With that point, the Gals (who have the week off) now lead for the Wooden Spoon, and the Rapids have scored the maximum number of points permitted by the Kroenke Line for any shot at the Spoon. The Gals need 2 points in their last two to give the Rapids a shot at the prize.
Who knew Dallas would sign somebody from the youth tournament outside before the game. Rapids now need 2 points to avoid their worst season ever.
They got off to a nice start. Aigner continues to look good. Unfortunately they reverted back to themselves and ended up being out shot. I wonder what's up with Gashi. Is he just not fit? If he has a 2 yr + options type deal, I guess he's not coming back next season?
I I thought I remembered it being a 3 year deal but I can't find that anywhere now. Transfermrkt (never totally reliable) says its through 2019 but one or two of those may be team option years. If I had to bet I expect him to be back unless we get an offer to sell him back to Europe for a decent fee.
Started the season over weight...Probably wants more money.... He's making an uncomfortable bed for himself to lie in.
I almost went 3-3 on this. We drew FCD (but those lost 2 points kept them from the playoffs), beat FSL (missed playoffs), and lost to Seattle who got 2 shots on goal in the Cup.
The Sounders were surrogate Rapids out there today with statistics to match -- despite a significantly 'better' roster.
