Badjiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Goallllllllllllllllllllllllllllll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bad GK play on the goal.
3 points! Depending on the outcome of RSL v. Minnesota, the Rapids may be all the way up to next-to-last place in the West.
Yes, it is really hard not to be a fan of somebody who comes in and scores a game-winner and then celebrates with the fans! Viva Gordo!
First half: Hot Garbage. Watts makes me crazy. Nobody pressed the ball. Second half: Complete turnaround in effort. They played with some of the heart and grit that reminded me a little bit of last year. The second half was actually...entertaining. Yup I said it, I had fun tonight. It actually looked like a soccer game from our boys. Two other things to note. Kortne Ford is bringing that heart and fight that we lost with Cronin. Not to mention that he got the best of Adi all night which is no small task. I'll take Kortne and Axel as our CBs any day. The other thing...Alan Gordon...I accept you. He has a knack for clutch goals and he's doing it for us.
I saw Serna getting ready on the bench and said, "Pablo should put in Serna for Watts and move Saied central. But he won't, he'll probably do Serna for Gatt." Well, it's nice to be surprised! The change made a big difference. Saeid had a nice game. Nice cross on the game winner. Then Gordon for Gatt, another attacking sub. What's gotten into Pablo? Gatt had a rough game. First there was nothing for him do, then he seemed to have a bit of a rough time of it w/some poor touches and passes. He had a bit of a breakaway and seemed to hang on to it too long. And...in the end it *did* matter that the centerbacks were missing. I'd guess Ridgewell would have done a better job defending Gordon.
Ford's kind of surviving on athleticism but he sure looks like he'll be a good one. They're a lot different with Sjoberg in there. He really shuts off the aerials. Oh one more thing, I like what I've seen of Da Fonte so far. Miller...is milquetoast to me. The best he ever does is 0--nothing good but nothing bad. And for a guy the Rapids picked up young, he doesn't seem to be developing, either. Da Fonte seems like a battler and thinks well out there. He'll make the break out wide and take the cross off the pass without hesitation...he doesn't wait and let the defender close him out.
They looked really good with Saied in middle and speedy Gatt and Serna out wide with Hairston overlapping.
