vs. Venue: The Hub Time: Thursday 7:00pm PDT TV: Fox Sports 2, Univision Deportes Gio's debut! ...in some capacity.
A video preview (I haven't watched it yet): http://www.concacaf.com/video/los-angeles-galaxy-vs-central-fc-preview Trying to find out more about our opponent. This is their first time in the CCL. They are from Trinidad & Tobago. http://www.concacaf.com/article/central-fc-heads-to-sccl-with-jabloteh-experience Anyone have more?
Yeah. Don't bother. Imagine a guy from a 1920's south park episode yelling at you, and you'll get the idea.
GK - Jan-Michael Williams (might still be injured) FW - Willis Plaza MF - Ataullah Guerra All played on the T&T NT that was at the Gold Cup. DF - Uriah Bentick DF - Akeem Benjamin DF - Jamal Jack DF - Kaydion Gabriel MF - Sean de Silva MF - Leston Paul Are all fringe T&T NT members. However they've all been called into the team within the last year.
Read Brian Straus's CCL article on SI and he mentioned the T&T club has only been around for 3 years. We have zero excuses.
Got the score wrong. It was 4-1 in favor to the Islanders, though LA’s goal was an Islanders’ own goal. Pretty much a full strength LA team too For giggles, here it is:
Please take this seriously Bruce. I know we have a game this weekend, but I'd like to see a mix of starters with subs
I pointed out in another thread that qualifying through the group stage will provide us some additional allocation money, which could be crucial to holding the 4 DP's together under the cap next season. PERHAPS this will motivate Bruce and the team to take these early games very seriously. They should.
Everything Chris has said over the past 6 months has pointed to CCL being a priority. He's consistently said LA doesn't just want to be the best in MLS, but the best I the region and ultimately one of the best in the world. We're the only club in the league that can claim that aspiration. Seattle, NYC, Orlando all pretenders to the throne haven't even made a final. DC is the only other team that could make the claim based on MLS success, but their ownership isn’t in a place to compete with the big spenders.
I think we may see a better then expected crowd. I noticed 2 days ago that tickets were available on stubhub for $14. Today tickets are available for $25 up. I wonder if this is the Gio effect, somehow, given that Bruce mentioned he'd make an appearance.
We better win anything less is embarrassing even worse than being humbled by the PR Islanders, because now we have millions of dollars on the field in personelle.
Bought two today so my daughter and son-in-law can go to the game. My ticket rep said things had been fairly quiet but they are hoping it picks up and there is a good walk-up sale. So, at least as of this morning, this was anything but a hot ticket. They made such a big deal about Gio's debut being the Seattle game that I think this is flying under the radar. Besides, if you had the money to go to ONE of these two, which would you pick? 99/100 would take Seattle I think.
My favorite part of that game is when Bill Gaudette, while taking a goal kick, got his foot tangled in the goal netting that took over a minute off the clock. That was amazing.
The genius braintrust that is MLSsoccer.com has this game listed as happening today, right now. And they think this league is big enough for two LA teams. Just about as bad, today I heard a radio ad protesting the proposed stadium plan for the Cosmos. It argued that the land could be put to better use than a 25,000-seat soccer stadium that will never be at full capacity. Ouch!
Last year Bruce said that the G's were on the 5 year plan to win the CCL. But, now, it seems things have accelerated. At least, I hope so. I'll be there.
Me too. Even though it means the hard choice of passing up the Republican presidential hopefuls debate.
Starting the bench. With mostly starters on the bench. No Keane or Gerrard tonight.... @LAGalaxy: #LAGalaxy starting XI: Rowe; Gargan, Romney, Meyer, Garcia; Maganto, Walker, Vayrynen, Mendiola; Gordon, Zardes #SCCL http://t.co/b3pdjl6HSk @LAGalaxy: #LAGalaxy subs vs @CentralFCTT: Wolverton, Gonzalez, Dos Santos, Rogers, Lletget, Juninho, DLG Match center: http://t.co/ozSS5P11nc #SCCL
I can't wait to watch this game as it is happening! I haven't gotten to do that in a long time, it seems. We better win.
Well....it looks like the rhetoric on being dedicated to winning the CCL is a wee bit more grandiose than the line up named...... It's the sort of lineup Nicols used to set out. For the sake of quieting the MLS scorners, please don't let 'em do a Joe Public on you.
So they haven't played a competitive match since May? We have zero reason to not win this. Bruce if we lose, you only have yourself to blame especially with this line-up
