Haha Was hilarious to watch some mins of this stuff again. I forgot how rave central Oz was in the mid 90s - there were still giant illegal parties up to end of 1996 But also the pure bogan culture, not to mention some classic themes like beating your wife but underneath it all being a top bloke Kind of like a western suburbs version of Grange Hill with obvious drug culture. "Miss Miss!" Time for a reboot!
From December: Discussing the potential need for reinforcements, Emery told reporters: "If we can take one player to help us at centre-back, I think it's a good option. But a transfer is not easy." Also now we are linked with a RB from Italy. Arshavin and Reyes as well. Maybe we should re live the Campbell signing and get Toby over from shite lane.
That's old news. He said sometime in January something different. I don't have time to look up the quote but it was one of those manager cliches, as I mentioned above, where he basically played down the prospect of bringing in a new CB because we have so many players in the position already. Sidestepping the short-term injury crisis of course. Yup. I consciously left them out because I didn't think they were super positive January examples. But of course that's all debatable, and it was not the point of my post to start a debate/argument. Simply to show how much good talent we've found in Januaries past.
Some thoughts on Denis Suárez to Arsenal. First of all, a loan without the obligatory purchase option isn’t a bad deal by any means, as he’s only really produced one good half a season in his career to date. It’s low risk.— David Cartlidge (@davidjaca) January 30, 2019
SR seems to be headed to Leipzig. Claims that he is already on a plane to Germany. Eddie linked to Augsburg Glad to see both getting a loan. Little nervous about Eddie leaving as it leaves us with just 2 ST on the roster and we have been playing a good deal of 2 ST formations.
True, but playing two strikers was a compromise anyway. If Nketiah was playing meaningful minutes, we were going to be in trouble. Let's see if Suarez is any good.
Also seeing claims that PSG approached about a loan for Ozil and Ozil rejected the move. Can't tell if he badly wants to make it work at Arsenal or if he just wants to screw over the club and make them pay the promised wages.
Per Ornstein, our attempts to sign Perisic & Carrasco appear to be dead. Suarez is done. Will be announced Thursday. Still working to finalize a deal for Nkunku.
Don't know about Joel, but as for Sol, you're sort of right. He signed for us in summer of 2001, and then again in January 2010.
Wow. I wonder what kind of notice kids like this have. Could be a little traumatic if it's like "Hey Emile, you're going to East Germany, say goodbye to your Mum, pack your back, you leave tomorrow" OTOH, some kids like Sancho apparently couldn't wait to get over there.
Dunno if anyone mentioned this already but Emi Martinez has gone out on loan to Reading. It's our only confirmed move so far. Interesting. We're banking on Cech & Leno staying healthy for the run in? Will Emi come back to be #2 next year? Or are we getting him into the shop window better by giving him playing time elsewhere?
Sol came in January, no? Oh ya, the second time—duh. Pretty crazy, but I think he’d be excited for an adventure like that. What is it a 2 hour flight or so? Will be good to see him get some game time and a real test.
Not to say that it’s not stressful, but the players have agency in these deals, and the teams have support structures in place to help with relocation and bedding in. It’s not uncommon for ‘mum’ (and/or dad) to be accommodated in these situations. Also, you know ‘East Germany’ doesn’t exist anymore, right?
Some insight into Spanish Ramsey's game: https://www.arsenal.com/news/what-we-can-expect-denis-suarez
Leipzig is all the rage these days. Berlin is still to some extent the last affordable capital, but plenty of people have scarpered east into the hinterland (e.g Potsdam is completely unaffordable) Leipzig is ball achingly trendy to move to
Surprise, surprise... https://www.arsenal.com/news/denis-suarez-join-club-loan Don't think this was posted already, but if so, apologies Edit: But does it really warrant 8 articles today on Arsenal.com about the loanee Suarez??
I mean, he might be a loanee, but he's not really a loanee. He is for all intents and purposes, an Arsenal player now. I would be absolutely shocked if Unai doesn't have him signed regardless. He's finally got one of his guys.
